And today the Monster Manual is up.
If you purchased anything from WoTC on DriveThru/RPGNow/DndClassics the first time they put stuff up way back when before they took it down, visit again, because some of it has come back and your download link should still work.

The only reason I am buying them now is because they are the new cleaned up printing PDF's.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

'bout time! I looked at it. It is a scan. I made far superior PDF's of the 3 books (including embedded hyperlinks) in the late 90's. Why they couldn't do the same with technology 2 decades in advance of that is beyond weird.Aergraith wrote:You can buy the PDF of the AD&D 1e PHB (the reprint) on dndclassics.com now. Did you buy their old PDF? Before they pulled them down? If so, I think that is the one you got, because the PDF I am looking at, for the PHB, is nice and clean looking. Very easy to read, etc... IE just like the new printings they did a couple of years ago, which is where this PDF came from. Now, granted, the artwork was transferred via scanning and touching them up, but that was pointed out when the print versions were released. The text looks very clean and easy to read to me.

It was actually typeset again. On some pages you can see how the formatting is slightly different. The art was mostly scanned unless the originals were available. There were some articles on the process but they seemed to have fallen off the internet.

Re: AD&D 1e on RPGNow
No, looking at the new one. They are lower quality than the PHB PDF I made in '98. My text & pics are better. PLUS, original cover art. Also, I put in hyperlinks for table of contents, table lists, spell lists, etc. 20th century tech toolsTreebore wrote: Did you buy their old PDF? Before they pulled them down?

Yeah, very, very few make use of todays PDF tech, thats for sure. The best I have ever seen done was very recently for a Savage Worlds PDF I bought.

At least good to hear that you purchased one that took advantage of the tech. There's hope!Treebore wrote:Yeah, very, very few make use of todays PDF tech, thats for sure. The best I have ever seen done was very recently for a Savage Worlds PDF I bought.

Re: AD&D 1e on RPGNow
Wow! Now THAT is doing it right.
Re: AD&D 1e on RPGNow
Pinnacle Entertainment generally does it right.

Well, they didn't do this PDF, the author did. Under license from Pinnacle.tylermo wrote:Pinnacle Entertainment generally does it right.
