Monday night Lejendary Adventure™ game
Re: Monday night Lejendary Adventure™ game
Well, I’m sorry that Tree continues to stir the pot and insist that it’s entirely my fault that the session went south. He continues to speak for everyone about what he thinks occurred when that situation happened.
It may be that others agree with his assessment and that would be fine with me, if they express it and not him.
But, I have no intention of withdrawing from the game, unless Kayolan says that Treebore’s opinion on how we should all approach and play the game is his as well.

Let's just calm down and STOP POSTING about it.
Take it to PMs if you must, but my recommendation is to forget about this bizarre aberration entirely and never speak of it again
Now, who else is up for some nice Barbie adventuring?

I have already taken responsibility for my chars actions in game.
I was hoping that we would agree to disagree over some of the stuff that happened, but you seem to wish to bulldoze everyone to your way of thinking rather than leave it alone and let the LM resolve things.
And yes, Aramis - at this point, I will stop posting.

As an example, in one game I play Barlieg, the Half-Orc Barbarian. He has a rival in Lupa-Spadar, a confident and somewhat haughty human swashbuckler. They engage in light banter, ribbing, and boasts, and that's as far as it goes; we keep it in-game and we keep it light and we make sure it's no more than humorous for those involved. In any case, they are co-workers, and will always work to achieve the same goal.

I don't know about a half orc barbarian, but that Lupa fellow sounds kind of interesting!

Lets see, you decide that my Avatars putting a bear out of its misery needed to be stopped by your Avatar using deadly force against my Avatar, after this bear tore one of our group up pretty badly, and was unconscious and on its way to dying, you decide Kayolan shouldn't have run the encounter in the first place, you decide your Avatar is a militant defender of bears everywhere, out of the blue, but its my fault and kayolans fault the game session went South? I'm the one dictating how the game is to be played? You are very obviously forgetting who took the action, completely out of the blue, that brought about this entire mess. It wasn't me, it wasn't Kayolan, it was you. If you had never stated you were going to try and kill my Avatar over the bear, none of these events and posts would have happened. Its that simple, so why are you having such a hard time accepting this? You are the one who screwed up. It really is as simple as that. So admit it, apologize for it, and lets move on.Rhuvein wrote:Well, I’m sorry that Tree continues to stir the pot and insist that it’s entirely my fault that the session went south. Penny, if the hunting and stuff really bothers you as a real person, please consider this. Bears in an RPG game are infinite. You never, ever run out of them unless the LM/CK/GM/DM decides they go extinct.
Are you familiar with Skyrim? I really dislike killing the Mammoths in that game, but I do. Know why? Because I consciously remind myself that they are just digital constructs, and the game will keep repopulating them for as long as I play the game. So despite the fact that I would never support or personally kill a mammoth in real life, I do it in the game, because there, they are infinite, and they fill my Grand soul stones.
So please reconsider, and keep gaming with us.

Well I was hoping that some discussion might help resolve some issues and that we could come to some understanding and perhaps agreement or agreement to disagree about certain things, but I guess that wasn’t going to happen.
So, for my part I apologize to any who felt this thread went sour from the exchanges of posts.
At this point, I will bow out of the game.
Best to all!

Re: Monday night Lejendary Adventure™ game
First of all I would like to say that I enjoyed our first game session, despite the resulting fallout at the end. I consider you all to have greatly contributed to the game and I'm glad you all played.
You all did a fantastic job of role-playing your Avatars to the hilt. For that alone you are each awarded 100 merits. For general play I am awarding you each 250 merits, for a total of 350 merits.
Ability merits go out to some of you, these are based on spectacular, innovative, and/or crucial uses of your abilities:
Antal the Black is awarded 30 Tricks merits for a memorable use of that ability, though he in fact failed at his check, it was nonetheless very entertaining and it served to paint a vivid picture of his avatar.
Ebeorgar Berntson is awarded 30 Ranging merits for noticing the bear's presence in the nick of time before it had a chance to catch him unawares.
Hile Troy, the Unfettered is awarded 30 Geourgy merits for his critical activation of Shadow Bolts on the bear.
Sir Edwin Gothmyer is awarded 30 Weapons merits for his critical attack upon the bear with his battle axe.

Also, if Torgen makes it back to the hunters' camp alive, he will tell tales of you helping him with the bear attack. Each of you will gain 1 point of repute among the hunters in the area.

Questions:
Can we spend merits any time between adventures?
Egor's Hunting score without doing anything else is high enough to attain the 8th rank. Does something need to happen before he can undertake that rank?

Nothing needs to happen, Egor is already at 8th Rank and he should have all the benefits of that Rank.
Going over his numbers it looks like you've got it all added up correctly.

Did someone change something on roll20?
I can now see my abilities and edit them, where before they were blank lines that I couldn't open much less edit.
That said, I spent my merits to bring ranging up to 70 (just 1 more point to the next rank) and I corrected my archery to add in the 2 points for being 8th rank.

Your Archery actually stays at 10 starting out, no matter what modifiers you might have. "5th Ability" always starts off at a flat 10, only through game play can it be raised. Think of it as a free Ability at a score of 10 that gets tacked on at the end of Avatar generation.Lurker wrote: and I corrected my archery to add in the 2 points for being 8th rank.

Oh ok, I misunderstood the write up for being 8th rank. I've corrected it back to 10 in roll 20.
I'd like a little advice though. With shooting a bow being able to use 1/2 weapon score, I'm 6 points better that way than with my archery skill. Does it make sense to improve my archery skill? Wont I get more out of my merit points if I focus on weapons and drag my archery rolls up that way?
I know improving archery improves your damage roll, but that is 1 point of damage for every 10 points in the skill. I can see where that will be beneficial, but I think improving my weapons (so I hit with all weapons) will be more critical at least until he has a better than 2/3 - 3/4 average. Then after he is that skilled, he will more focus on his archery to get the added damage.
Plus, I picture my guy using his bow as a back up weapon, or the weapon used in the first round of an ambush (where the conditions are best for his shot) but then going quickly to sword, axe, or spear. So, it fits him better to improve the weapons first and the archery a distant second.

Going by the book, if you have Archery you may use your Weapons score instead of your Archery score for purposes of attack rolls:Lurker wrote:I'd like a little advice though. (under Archery:)
"Each 10 Archery Ability points possessed adds one point to Weapons Ability when using such a weapon, and also one bonus point of Harm inflicted from a successful attack when employing such a weapon."
This means that you will use your Weapons ability, unless your Archery is higher, in either case you add the 10=1 bonus to hit and harm (from Archery only) when employing such a weapon; you do not add this to your overall Weapons ability score, it only applies to missile weapon use, you can note the adjusted Weapons score in parenthesis for missile use and the bonus to harm under your missile weapon on your weapons list. If an Avatar does not have Archery, then he will use a percentage of his Weapons instead, either 50% or 75% depending on the type of missile weapon (bows get the 50% of Weapons and crossbows 75%, crossbows being easier to learn and use).
So, as it stands now, Eboergar has a Weapons of 31 and an Archery of 10. When using his bow, he will have a score of 32 and will do a bonus of 1 harm.

I must be illiterate or senile, because I could have sworn that it was 1/2 of weapon score when using bow/crossbow, or full archery score. Which ever was higher.
Thanks for clarifying it for me
With that, it is a no brainer to increase my weapon score a lot more than my archery.
Tree,
Rgr on it being a loading issue with roll20. I think it has to do with editing the bio before I try and edit the abilities.

Re: Monday night Lejendary Adventure™ game
Also, keep these suggested adjustments in mind, of which I may add or subtract to your Score while using missile weapons:
Attacker Situational Adjustments for Shooting:
Motionless, back or weapon braced: +10
Moving rapidly: -10
Moving erratically and rapidly: –20
Defender Situational Adjustments for Being Shot At:
Motionless: +10
Moving: -5
Moving erratically/rapidly: -10
While in camouflage dress: -5
With 30% cover: -10
With 60% cover: -20
With 90% cover: –30
So for example, if Eboergar were to successfully use Ranging to surprise his prey/opponent and catch him motionless, while braced against a tree or something similar, his Weapons score for that attack would be at 52 instead of 32. If he were to move rapidly while shooting at a target with camouflage and 30% cover, his Score would be 7 instead of 32.
There is no need to write down these adjustments, I will let players know when they attempt their actions if their score is raised or lowered by a bonus or penalty depending on the situation. It's similar to C&C in this regard, only you are adding to or subtracting from your Ability Score instead of your die roll, then rolling to see if you beat the new Score number.

Re: Monday night Lejendary Adventure™ game
Rgr, that is why I'll only use my bow from an ambush situation where I can have that 'attacker braced' bonus.
My sword's accuracy bonus outweighs my bow even with the +1 to archery for the 10 ability I have.
All of that said, this is munchkin focused, which takes away form the great game you have going.
Look forward to Monday's game

Actually at short range (150 ft.) your bow has the same Precision bonus, that of 20, and with the +1 from your Archery it puts your bow use just a tad over your sword.Lurker wrote:My sword's accuracy bonus outweighs my bow even with the +1 to archery for the 10 ability I have.

Achievement is the knowledge that you have studied and worked hard and done the best that is within you. Success is being praised by others. That is nice but not as important or satisfying. Always aim for achievement and forget about success.

Great game last night!
some poor rolls on my part (missing more than I hit, and then when I hit doing min damage more than once.) made fighting those cougars a bit dicey.
Then great use of that spell and roleplaying to get to the bottom of the cause of them being like they were.
