Deep Freeze

Post by RPGmonk »

Anybody suffering this deep freeze we got going on in the midwest. My kids have already had two days school canceled because it was too cold. I went to work yesterday and my truck temp was reading -3 f, I didn't think it would read negative.

Just keeping my fingers warm by posting...

Peace

Schools are closed here again today as well, temp was a nice 5 degrees, without the windchill.

Living in Cleveland, I came from gaming early sunday morning to a chilly -4F. With the windchill, that was a balmy -24F.

As soon as I win the lottery, I'm considering a winter home in some warmer climate, that's for damn sure.

I'm in the same ballpark as Omote. It was -5 (-15 with wind chill) when I went to bed last night. There was a 2 hour delay yesterday and schools are cancelled today.

PS: To ya'll down in Georgia, I'll take that 34 anyday of the week and twice on Sunday for Febuary temps.

Come on down. We'd love to have you. My mother-in-law is from Queens and my wife lived in Connecticut and Chicago a good bit when she was younger (yes, I consider her a Yankee) and has repeatedly said to me, "I want to move someplace where it snows." I, however, don't want to live anywhere that requires thirty minutes of work to prepare to go to the store. No thank you.

Thanks for the offer, but I love living in PA. I just hate snow and supeer cold weather. I can live with temps in the 30s, it's when the temps drop below 0 that I have a problem.

Believe it or not, you should relish in your bad weather. It makes for more gamers.

I live in the Sunshine state and it's hard to get anyone to commit to anything with all the activites and beach going on. The Miami Dolphins have to have frequent media black out dates to force fans into the stadium.

On the flip side, my buddies in Pheniox says the unbearable weather forces people indoors and he claims the place is a gaming mecca.

Maybe not so much with all the snow and ice you guys are getting.

Case in point, just yesterday I put on two pairs of sweat pants, two pairs of socks, two shirts and a winter jacket just to take the garbage out. Granted, my waltz to take out the garbage is about 150 feet, but still. Hey, I'm a freeze baby, what can I say.

Wow. That sounds like a major task. I can see you getting all settled back in after taking the trash out and then suddenly thinking: "I forgot to check the mail."

32 is cold? Bah. We were 5 days without power in 7 degree temps when the ice hit Oklahoma. ^_~`

I live up in central MI and don't need to mention how cold it is but....

I'd be happy to trade jobs with anyone who works inside... Anyone interested in being in this junk 8 hours a day?

Be glad it's that cold..... Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing (& I shudder thinking about it) an elderly neighbor, in only old wholly boxers, with wool socks & hat, with steaming cup of coffee going to check his mail.... I wish it had been in the teens or -ish to keep from seeing that! I guess the "Cold" does odd things to the Ga locals!

I actually miss the cold snowy icy Ok weather. Actual 4 seasons with a reason to have a good 4 wheel drive truck & fire place. The wife thinks it's odd with me doing yard work on the (what she calls) winter days down here!

If you are in a cold place keep warm & enjoy a good snuggle with some one special, if you are warm enjoy the good cool crisp day & laugh about the ones stuck up north!

Man, mad respect for all who have to brave the elements.

The snuggling part is great fun and all, but when you end up like frozen popsickles... well then...

When I drove to town to run my game, it was -3, by the time I drove home late last night, it was -11, not counting wind chill... Fun!

I'll just bow out of this conversation and wait patiently until summer. Then I can start my Hellacious Humidity thread.
