LUMBERJACK CLASS FOR C&C by Brian Miller

Post by miller6 »

Lumberjack

A new class by Brian Miller

I'm a lumberjack and I'm okay (Michael Python, Lumberjack)

I sleep all night and I work all day. (Monty Palin, Lumberjack)

Lumberjacks are found in ancient forests where titanic trees stand within rolling distance of a steep slope which provides quick access to a river with a medium to strong current. As fighters, they specialize in swinging, juggling or lobbing hatchets and axes, sawing or cleaving wooden objects in half in a single blow, balancing on rolling objects such as tree trunks or barrels, climbing trees, eating great quantities of food and drinking tremendous quantities of ale. Some utilize their lumberjack abilities competitively while others view the profession as a means to earn a living spending virtually all of their daylight hours in the great outdoors. Lumberjacks fill an essential niche in society by providing nearby towns with enough lumber to construct buildings, ships, wagons, siege and smaller weapons and even walls while keeping the stoves lit and the fireplaces aglow. Unlike most fighter types, lumberjacks consider the use of swords to be childs play regardless of their size or weight. They are skilled at chopping through doors in a single blow and can just as easily make quick work of all but the strongest enemies.

Lumberjacks have knowledge of all common forms of trees and woodland animals, and are known for hunting larger beasts to provide an ample supply of meat for the tables of their lumberjack lodge. Low level Lumberjacks begin their career as apprentices in small to large-scale logging operations until they save up enough money to purchase a plot of forested land so they can cut their own swath through the woods. Higher level Lumberjacks eventually construct and preside over their own lumberjack lodge. They can be any race, but the most common are humans, half-orcs, half-ogres and dwarves. Halflings and gnomes are simply too small to effectively wield large axes and to elves Lumberjacking is considered the rape of nature.

Lumberjacks gain a specialization in a type of axe, mallet or maul, gaining +2 to hit and damage in that weapon and can cut through a wooden door in 1 round or any other source of wood at a rate of 1 ft. per round.

Lumberjacks can climb trees as a rogue of equal level climbs walls and can balance on and roll any round object using their feet by making a dexterity check at -1 per 10 ft. of movement attempted.

Lumberjacks can consume twice the normal amount of food or beverage with no ill effect other than passing gas.

At 5th level, Lumberjacks gain forest lore and can identify any type of enchanted or normal tree on sight or normal woodland or enchanted animal by sound or footprint though they have no skill at tracking them down. They can also construct a log cabin.

At 7th level, Lumberjacks can consume four times the normal amount of food or beverage with no ill effect other than passing gas.

At 10th level, Lumberjacks can cleave a target, causing double damage on a successful hit with their claws (as a bear) or their weapon of specialization.

At 10th level, Lumberjacks can construct a lumberjack lodge and log slide and attract followers to assist in their logging operation.

"At 15th level Lumberjacks can turn into a bear 3 times per day for 1 round per level each time." - Actually, this is only a legend. It has to do with how they act on the morning after a big blow-out party.

Is this a Canadian Lumberjack or an Oregon Lumberjack?
