I think it would help if on the TLG page there were some official Crusader Submissions guidelines put up, along with where to send them.
Now is an excellent time to put some extra effort into the mag and try to get it to grow.

Bingo. I'm looking at something myself so I need to know more about the guidelines.

The guidelines are roughly the same as module writing, only the size is greatly reduced, since Crusader doesn't support multiple 24 page articles.
Instead, reduce the size of your submission to something like 1-3 pages, or around 4000 words. Send it to Steve or Davis (maybe even both), at their respective emails (found in the sticky in the Rules forum.) The "writers guidelines" are available on the website. Its mostly a format issue.

Steve had a call for letters for some time ago. I wonder what ever happened to that?

That I understand, I'd just like to see it more "officialized" somewhere and a process started to help the magazine take off. Right now its $20 for a subscription of 6 issues. While $20 is pretty good value for a 2-3 year subscription (yes, that was a rib ) , part of what hurts the magazine is that there's little to no information present for these sort of things.
Are some of the delays due to lack of articles? Put a real system in place to take submissions and it could help that aspect out. I'm sure there are several crusaders who wouldn't even expect compensation for turning in some good articles if it meant getting this thing going.

Maybe a free copy and if good enough being considered for a bigger writing job. That would be all the compesation I need. I feel my work needs more polish to be considered for something pro.

Cool, thanks.
One of my primary questions is what exactly C&C related are submissions allowed to cover? Is anything TLG allowed to be expanded on in an article?
Lets say I wanted to do an article on the Kellerwald?
What about areas that fall into other areas such as Yggsburgh and an article on orcish tribes of that region?
I'd be happy to see guidlines for short story submissions.

I just wanted to thank you people who have been subscribing to the Crusader magazine. Subscriptions are the lifesblood to the magazine and we need everyone of them. Please tell your friends if they like C&C and want to help out, they should get on the web and sign up. There is a 6 month and a 12 month option. It's a great Christmas present. I promise you 2009 is going to be a great year for the magazine with lots of things happening. The January issue will be 36 pages from then on and it's going to be monthly.
Happy holidays and thanks again for supporting the magazine.

Not sure about on the cheap. But pdfs of 1-10 can be found at rpgnow.com while many of the print ones can be found at nobleknight.com.
They had everything except issue 1 this past year at GenCon, and I seem to recall picking up all of the issues through 11 (that was still hot off the press) then at a discounted rate. Granted, I dropped a boatload of cash with the Trolls at GenCon, so that might've factored into it, but I think the prices per copy were discounted there. I'd need Steve to confirm/deny that, though. If they were discounted, you could hold off until GenCon or else wait to see if they have another package should they do a 12 Days of Christmas sale this coming year. I know it's a long time to wait, but if you're on a budget, those are the options I can think of.

I will throw the money at it right now and buy a 12 month subscription if this thing can be done. ^_^
You can get 9 issues at NKG (all they have in stock at the moment) for less than $30.

I have every issue with the exception of 15 which hasn't arrived yet but I figure I should have by the end of the week and the very first issue.
At one point, Steve did mention the possibility of reprinting the first issue but that was quite some time ago. I did get it along with the first few on PDF though. Some of the early issues are not as good or solid as some others IMO and one of my favorite early issues (number 4) was also the one with the worst quality in terms of the paper used.
However, if you are determined to acquire the back issues at this point, issue 7 and onwards have been my favorites so far. The only thing you might miss out by doing so are earlier parts of 'How it all Happened' which Gary was writing as well as earlier parts of a fictional series.
Lastly, if you decide to opt for PDF, be aware that they are deliberately delaying the release of these by several issues with per issue price being the same.
Personally, I hope they end up doing a combination Magazine/PDF subscription down the line since I've pretty much taken to collecting both formats.

I'd like to see a reprint of issue 1. The only thing stopping me from getting the back issues I don't have is that I can't get #1 outside of PDF. I hate PDF's.
