One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
I had a lawful evil fighter/magic user/ cleric named Shadow that I absolutely adored.
Also of note, was a fighter named Manitou, who rose to become a king after playing the module: Conan Unchained.
My neutral evil half-orc thief Denzil, was AWEsome as well. A lot o' sewer based adventures were had for that guy.

That's funny Slimy.
My favorite character was also named Shadow but he was only a 15/12 half-drow fighter mage...and a con artist. I wrecked an entire economy by 6th level by use of color cantrips. *insane grin*
My other was a 10/4 half-ogre Fighter/Cleric named Bronz Fellfist. He has the distinct reputation of killing smaller creatures by belly-flopping on them since they are too hard to hit being so short. He also grabbed a 5000 gem out of the treasure pile as we were divvying things up and used it to propose to the rather good looking barmaid that the group knew.
Bachnu Bluefoot was a 10th level halfling thief. He got his moniker from a smurf curse that left his foot hair blue permanently. He retired after killing an adult black dragon single handedly though lost the use of his left arm from the acid.

Rigon o'the Woods. A half-drow ranger started in my 2e days in the Forgotten Realms. He is currently 29th level in 3e.
For C&C, I liked playing Finn Mac F'yl. A half-elf bard who dual classed wizard. He was from Tree's first campaign online. I want to say he ended up 14/13 for levels. He is the Dragon Master (dominated a great wyrm) and founded Finn Vegas. The floating city of brothels and gambling parlors. What happens in Finn Vegas, stays in Finn Vegas.

Re: One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
Araw, a 12th level Human Ranger was my favorite. That was the highest level character I ever had. I recently found the character sheet in my footlocker of gaming stuff.
Re: One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
Trystan, a 14th level originally chaotic good fighter that became a "called" paladin around 11th level. We just finished a campaign that started in 2008 and are putting our "high powered" party aside to start some new characters in another part of the same campaign world.
Re: One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
I've got a lot of favored characters. Treebore, Jesmond, Dager, Jalnor, Rahne, Grim, Pakitani, Gestafi, Ektor, Grimaryl, Jalhar, Jade, Callis, Ailanon, Fallin and they are just from D&D.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Then there's Draupnir, a Barbarian.
And also a neutral evil half-orc rogue/ illusionist I was really digging, but can't play anymore.

In memoriam ~ The Pious Roland Silverleaf d’Argent, a moon half-elf cleric of Tymora!
His luck ran out when he and several other party members were obliterated by a Helm of Brilliance that backfired on the party!
The body was shipped back to Icewind Dale for a proper funeral pyre.

Re: One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
Only three come to mind, all of them halfling fighter-thieves in 1E.
The first was Bilbo, the first 1E character I rolled up. I loved that PC the way only a young kid can love a PC. Thank God the DM never did an encumbrance audit. We had an adult DM and didn't run a Monty Haul campaign, but I was still carrying around an insane amount of magical gear. I swiped treasure out of chests before the other PCs could look inside constantly. The party's paladin once bitch-slapped Bilbo with gauntlets of giant strength for stealing from the party and knocked him from full strength to unconscious. Good times.
The second was Carrot, the first PC I ran in Frank Mentzer's home game. He was killed by a giant carrion crawler while the rest of the party was paralyzed and unable to help him.
The last was Radish, the second PC I ran in Frank Mentzer's home game. He only died once, but was promptly raised. I had a lot of fun with him. He's running around out there somewhere with one of the artifacts necessary to restore Empyrea (I believe the Eye of Note). The campaign died a few years back, so we'll never know how his quest turned out. Frank has said he may include Radish as an NPC in one of his modules someday.

Re: One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
In recent years, I’d have to go with Stitch, a cantankerous old gnome cleric. His genesis was when I saw that according to the 1e AD&D DMG, gnome clerics started at hundreds of years old, well into the "mature" age range.

Engle von Gnade, a seven+ foot tall catfolk Landsknecht. (14th Lvl Fighter)
If you're that tall, you might as well dress flamboyant.
Used to like to hunt dinosaurs with his zweihander flaming sword.

Re: One -or more- of your favourite characters you've had.
I've mentoned it before b here you go:
Sir Gadvwin 11th level paladin
We were running from some goblins/orcs/ogres etc up a high mountain pass, and there was a demon (don’t remember it’s name, but it is on the cover of a Dragon mag, in the snow with a hammer thumping a roman centurion). The party did good in whittling down the goblinoids but the demon and ogres, not so much. We had to get word to the towns in the other valley, so someone had to run for it. I stopped at the narrowest part of the valley said this is where I make my stand everyone else needs to run and I knelt and prayed. The DM played up the ogres and demon working up the valley mocking me & I played up my prayer and last rites, then the dice flew … I did roll a bit lucky, but even with that, the DM had to fudge some of the rolls, because I held on longer and did more damage that was expected. I killed &/or ran off the ogres and stood toe to toe with the demon. However, I eventually wore down and thump, the demon’s hammer takes me out … Everyone sat in silence as I handed the DM my character sheet and he slowly ripped it in half … I looked around and told the rest of the party to my it worth it … Then wouldn’t make another character until the adventure was finished (towns getting ready to defend against the oncoming monsters etc …
