Post by Treebore »

arriving in a couple of days. Wonder which will get here first, this order, or my Gaxmoor stuff?

Product Labyrinth Lord: Revised Edition has shipped.
Product Advanced Edition Companion (Labyrinth Lord) has shipped.
Product Realms of Crawling Chaos (Labyrinth Lord) has shipped.
Product Idol of the Orcs has shipped.
Product Mutant Future: Revised Edition has shipped.
Product Starships & Spacemen 2e has shipped
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

IF you would like to get these like I did, I got the HC's for less than $10 each, and the softcovers were less than $5 each, and all but two of those are HC's. Shipping was just shy of $20.00. So this whole order was under $65.00 (US), with the shipping.

Anyways, I got these via this:

https://www.gofundme.com/4bhvakx8?utm_s ... aign=upd_n

Its to help out the co author of Mutant Future.

So depending on how you look at it, I paid either $64 or $124. Either way, its a cool way to help someone out and get some cool goodies, at great prices, for doing it.

If anyone is interested in the Level 2 offerings, such as also getting print products at cost like I did, Dan Proctor just sent out an e-mail today letting us know the Level 2 option will be going away in 1 week.

Err... actually, you can get everything from the Level 1 tier in print with just a Level 1 donation. Its only if you want print options on the few Level 2 PDF's a print option is also offered on that you would need to make a Level 2 donation.

Dan is a great guy. I met and gamed with him back during the Winter Dark II CON.

And I like Labyrinth Lord and in particular Mutant Future.

I wish I could support this given the circumstances.

Sad.

IT arrived today! I had LL and AEC already, in soft cover, but its nice to have the newest revisions, along with everything else, in HC or soft cover, in the case of the adventures.

I will always, I think, prefer nice solid print products over PDF.

One advantage to a physical set of books to PDF's is the simple ability to lay them down side by side and be able to flip back and forth in either of the two books. Which is especially important for a RPG clone like Labyrinth Lord with the AEC. For those not familiar with LL, the first book is basically a clone of the Moldvay boxed set. It also looks to me like it has some material from other boxed sets added in to flesh it out to higher levels than what the Moldvay boxed set goes. Which I think is third level, maybe up to 5th.

Anyways, what the AEC does is give you a bunch of rules and info on making LL play more like 1E AD&D, completely replacing sections 2 and 3 in LL if you want to do this completely. You also have the option to just add however little you wish.

This is also why its kind of really handy to be able to place both books side by side and flip through both as needed when deciding what your keeping or what your going to change or add.

Anyways, it had been a couple of years since I last played LL and had even looked at these books, so it was nice to now do it with hard cover versions of them.

This is my first time actually looking at Mutant Future. I now wish I had looked at it years ago. This is a very nicely done "clone" of Gamma World. So for anyone interested in playing Gamma World in "old school" style, this is a worthwhile clone to have, assuming you will have 4 to 6, or more, players, and you want everyone to have their own copy of the rules to reference. That are easier to understand and better organized.

Anyways, hopefully tomorrow I will get around to reading through the adventures. Especially "Realms of Crawling Chaos", since it has such a heavy Lovecraftian influence, and I am looking for material to adapt to my upcoming Ravenloft game in order to have a Lovecraftian Domain of my own design in it. I've already skimmed though it, and spotted some interesting looking monster ideas, so it looks promising.

Definitely. Just like OSRIC, while I like much of how they did things, there are things I don't like, etc... but thats all easy to modify. The big advantage for these clones over the originals is the opportunity for better clarity and better layout and organization of content. Which they did. Especially if you compare Mutant Future to the first edition of Gamma World. MUCH better clarity and organization!

Yeah, as much as I loved it, I remember parts of Gamma World being clear as (irradiated) mud.
