So How are the Screens?

Post by Orpheus »

Has anyone gotten their screen in the mail yet? If so, then how do they look? I plan on ordering mine in the next couple of days so I'm just hoping they're as cool as I've imagined. 8)

I got mine today and it's damned nice. I really like the artwork, good work Pete. The tables are nicely laid out and I like the quick reference tables that show the abilities of the various classes based on level, it's a nice touch. It looks like all the necessary tables are there and then some. It's sturdy and 4 panels, which I've always preferred to 3 panel screens. It's even got the treasure tables on the last panel for convenient treasure generation.

Breakdaddy you lucky sonofa.....! Cool man, can't wait to get mine. Since I first preordered from the Trolls way back in the day I'll never forget the words Steve said to me once about me not getting my preorder...

I don't know why, but that **** craxks me up. Ah, good times, good times. 8)

LOL, I have the distinct advantage of not having to wait for things to come in the mail, I can go over there and beat steve over the head with a laptop or something of similar heft until he hands over the goods

Groovy. 8) I'll be ordering mine on Monday. My only regret is that I didn't order it earlier for my game tonight.

Hmm, I'd go for similar heft. Laptops could be an expensive blunt instrument considering the hardness of Steve's noggin. I'd go with good old fashioned 2X4. Plus, it's a stylish representation of you wanting your stuff NOW!

Ha! I said the same thing to my wife yesterday. She can't understand why I'm so pumped to get it.

This is not even close to a "must have" item for me but for some reason I WANT this damn screen in the worst way. Usually, I can just sit back and wait for deliveries. This time? I'm damn near stalking the mail man awaiting it's arrival.

I'll wait with baited breath until Steve realizes I wanted this, two years ago.

Ahh, nice. Well then fine sir, proceed.

As for Priority Mail or whatnot, I would bet that the Troll dudes didn't mail out every order on the same say. Considering the amount of anticipation for this item there may be lots and lots of pre-orders to ship.

Just sayin'.

The screen isn't far from the mind...but given the amount of customization I had to put into my personal version of my screen, it just doesn't make sense for me to buy the official one. So I used my money instead on a copy of Hero System Sidekick, to go along with my copy of FRED.

Speaking of which Trav, like my other games I'm a big "screener" CK. I plan to use both Trav's screen AND TLG's in conjunction with each other. This will produce the "ultimate wall effect."

Matter of fact, maybe it would be better of my players didn;t see me at all behind the screen...?

Maybe TLG should release the Castle Keeper's Scrren 2... refrigerator box sized!

I'm picturing a small, slide door in the screen for CK's to open up, shout, "There are no shrubberies here!" and slam right back.

So what exactly are the screens made out of? I hope they're like the Kenzer screen where it's a heavy-duty cardstock/board with a slight laminate over it to make it nice and sturdy. Anyone?

Best to be answered by Breakdaddy, as he is the only one to have one that I know of (other then the Trollish fellows).

It's not as thick or heavy as my Kenzer screens, but it's quite durable. It's nothing like the flimsy crap that WOTC put out for their first 3.5e screen. The C&C screen reminds me a lot of those Flip Mats by Steel Sqwire, but a bit thicker.

Cool. I know the Trolls want to maximize their profit, but it's nice that they've made a durable product as well. 8)

Besides the class abilities tables, could anyone list the other tables on the screen?

There should be a full listing of them on the "products" page. I put my order in via paypal about an hour ago. Here's hoping for a speedy delivery. I'll be needing this baby soon. I managed to snare an old school Basic D&D player this weekend into the C&C fray. 8)
