Who here enjoys playing rogues?
...
For crying out loud. Do your best with the rolls the dice have given you. This is what separates the men from the boys... -Kayolan
Re: Who here enjoys playing rogues?
I have a hard time playing rogues, too squishy. For that reason I prefer pathfinder rogues or 4e rogues. The 4e rogue is squishy, but he is a glass canon so he hits way hard! An acceptable trade off. The cnc rogue can hit hard, but its more difficult. For that reason, I lighten up on the sneak attack requirements. Back attack is still RAW, but I felt rogue needed a bit of staying power so I allow the sneak attack bonus to replace the flank attack bonus for rogue, this also goes for the assassin.
Re: Who here enjoys playing rogues?
Typical I do not like playing a pure rogue. I much prefer playing them with a spell casting class, usually Wizard, currently playing a Rogue/Druid.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I normally play them like a robin hood or a risk taking lunatic.
Wow, Another Natural One! You guys are a sink hole for luck. Stay away from my dice.
Re: Who here enjoys playing rogues?
Sometimes, but they are way down my list of classes that I prefer.

Rogues are fun. Especially after lying about the door being trapped to the paladin because they were being a jerk.
This has been my other signature class opposite of paladin.

My favorite of non-spellcasters, for their unpredictability and universal skillset. More fun with a DM who can think outside the paradigm. Much like illusionists, they rely on imagination and "out there" tactics.
Re: Who here enjoys playing rogues?
I'll say I. not a huge fan of them with the normal mind set behind the class.
However, as I've said before, I do enjoy a swashbuckler style fighter, so a fighter thief mix is one of my favorite class combos. Also, as a fan of the Hobbit, I've played a fair amount of Halfling thieves over the years and enjoyed them. Oh yeah, one of my favorite characters was a Halfling fighter thief that had a war boar he would ride on .... Oh that was a fun one ....

After the fighting types, they are my favorite class to play.

I do not like the C&C Rogue by the book. I modify the Rogue by changing the experience to the Assassin's and changing the HD to 1d8 and the BtH to 1/2 levels. I do not allow Assassins as player characters.

Several years ago at the LGGC in Steve's game, I asked him if my gnome fighter could have a pavis on wheels with a chair (chariot style) pulled by a wild boar.
He said, NO!
So then, I asked if my gnome could just ride an Arkansas razorback!
He said, YES!
It was awesome.
