Hey Folks

Post by Troll Lord »

I want to apologize to you guys. Things have gone off wire here. Dundracon interupted the arrival of Crusader 5, the Screens and Vakhund. We are scrambling to get these things out to you those who have ordered/subscribed as fast as we can. The bulk went out today, and the rest of it (including Crusader 5) should go out to you guys tomorrow.

Thanks for your continued patience!

Steve

I've got to apologize, too. I've been a rough patch at my job at GM, where they're deciding if they want to keep me, or let me go, and I've been rather disappointed with the responses of some of my ideas here, and about... and have taken to lambasting, or being a nonchalant me, so, if I've bothered you, then I'll try to not do it again.

And, Steve... I could use all kinds of stuff you guys still have in that inventory of yours. Just answer my email, and I'll be happier.

Ser,

Sorry to hear things are so up in the air for you. I hope you luck out. Another infrequent board member has had it rough too. He lost his job and is scrambling to take care of his family.

So my prayers to you and everyone else having rough times.

Get going Steve.

BTW, Any idea on when you guys are going to have a "reliable" release schedule.

Like today I had to explain on ENWorld why the CKG and Crusader haven't been coming out yet, etc...

So it would be nice to know if you guys have an actual plan of action to get Crusader going bi-monthly, when you hope to start making that schedule. When do you hope ot have the CKG out, things like that.

People are asking on ENWorld, RPGnet, etc...
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

No worries. I've got Serl covered if GM cuts his job. He can take up being tech support for the company I work for and do so from the privacy of his own home. One way or the other, I'm watching his back as best I can. He deserves no less as a friend and since I for one have benefited greatly from his hard work in creating critters for C&C.

Here's to you Serl. You the man.

Dudes:

Steve might be a stumbling and rambling gomer, but he and Troll Lord have been doing really good things with our favorite game and I've been inclined to mention it. The quality of TLG products has gone from decent to good to even better lately and things have never looked better AFAIC. The release schedule needs work and one of these days Steve will learn to answer his email because even a trained monkey can hit REPLY
If you have any doubts, get a hold of the CK screen, it's top-notch. Crusader 5 is just about an across the board improvement over previous Crusaders and if this improvement is indicative of future trends then I'm a happy camper. I know and like these guys, but if I didnt like these products I would've simply shut my big cake-hole and not uttered a word about them. My only complaint: I don't have enough idle time to game more often!

Serleran: That's some pretty tough luck you've encountered, and I've gotta give you a best wishes shout out hoping that you retain your job and get back on track ASAP.

I don't think any of the regulars here will dispute that fact (regarding product quality). I'm just happy and excited to see all this stuff coming out!

Serl... I hope things do turn around for ya (in a good way). The same goes to all the other people who have had other runs of bad luck.

He might not answer his e mail, but he was quick to knock out my orders despite me having pay pal problems & sending a whole passel of them containing a book or 2 each instead of 1 whole order.. sorry for that Steve & thanks!

This is my number one job for 2007. Bringing the schedule into a more regular, predictable form. I am confident that I can manage it. The biggest problem we face is that Davis, Peter and I still do alot of the writing and design for most things TLG. Though we would love to bring in more staff, doing so requires substantial growth on our part or sacrifice on their part, and its a hard slog either way.

That said, we have benefited in the past six months by some really good folks. Breakdaddy has taken over maintenance of our computers (which is a huge time saver as Davis and I treat our computers like we do our trucks), Aztecman has taken over website, Alvin has joined peter and myself in layout.

The biggest problem, really, is with me and Davis. We are slated as the head writers on a great many projects (not least of which is the Crusader) and every time TLG hits a bump then it whiplashes into our writing schedule.

All that said, we are moving ahead in the line. We started the year with 14 projects overdue. Four of those over 18 months late. We have completed four, released three and are working on three more at the moment. Our next non-late release is March, Deeper Darkness, and it is on schedule. Covers are completed for most of the release through May as is the interior art. Layout needs to be done of course, but we are moving forward.

I'm very confident 2007, though it will continue to see bumps and hick-ups will bring a far more steady release schedule for TLG and all her lines.

Thanks!

Steve

Agreed! The way I see it, it's a case of a great game just getting better. Since the game has been so self-sufficient from the beginning (the boxed set), everything else just elevated C&C that much further.

And Serleran, I'm sorry to hear about the choppy waters at work. I've been there, and have the lost hours of sleep to show for it.

Steve, your honesty with your customers/fanbase/groupies is a huge part of what makes TLG great. I am actually thankful for the delays as it gives me a chance to let some personal-life issues shake out until I am ready to be a purchaser once again. The C&C line of products has been a wonderful addition to my gaming (and reading) and I thank TLG for having the guts to create C&C and run with it, in spite of many detractors.

So, here's to you and the Trolls.

Cheers!

Happy gaming,

Zudrak

Steve and everyone at TLG:

It's posts like this one that keep me coming back to C&C and TLG in general. Sure, delayed releases are an annoyance for everyone, but what REALLY chaps my hide is when the publisher says NOTHING to their customer base concerning those delays. I find it insulting, frankly.

TLG, on the other hand, is a shining example of a game company that "gets it". If someone's truck blows up and it results in a delay in release (no jinxes intended, guys!!), I can count on hearing about it on these forums. I'm bummed about the delay, but at least I know what's going on and can sympathize. In short, it just makes you seem like regular guys with real life issues like anyone else. And, it makes me feel valued as a customer that you take the time to give me a heads up when this stuff happens.

Thanks, TLG, for getting it right. =)

True enough. It makes the Trolls less like a company and more like friends that make cool stuff. That's how I see it. The fact that two sources that have no correlation to one another (Peter on the EN World boards and my FLGS owner) have so much good to say about Steve cements his status as a "good guy".

I kind of like the delays. It gives me a chance to catch up, seeing how I've only worked 1 40 hour week since the end of August. So if somethings are running behind, that's fine, gives me a chance to save up for them over several weeks (or one good night of poker).

To Serl, I know what you're going through. My job relies on a behavioral problems youth attending school everyday. If he doesn't show up, I don't work (or get paid). Furthermore, I have to drive about 30 minutes, one way, to get to the school and the parent doesn't notify me before hand wether or not he will be there. I have to waste my time and gas getting there, just to find out I'm not working that day.

As to what most of the others have said about the Trolls on here. IMO, as a consumer, THE MOST valued aspect of a company is customer service. The Trolls deliver top notch service. If I have a question, concern, or thought, I just bring it here and eventually one of the Trolls will come along and respond.

I can no doubt do anything but agree on both the quality of the Trolls' work and the fact that they are great peoplle.

But, hippie lovefest aside.

I can understand where Treebore's question is coming from. A reliable schedule helps build a wider fan base. The frustration of delays and not knowing when something will be out can really drive away some people.

I'm a die hard, so will be here regardless. However, I cant help but wonder how many people have been turned off by the number of delays on various projects.

I am glad to see they are aware of the problem and aren't afraid to take it to the boards. I just wish there was a quick fix for it, but as a small company, I realize there isn't.

I can also understand the apprehension of the less than rabid fans about commiting to a game with a shakey release schedule.

I play C&C because of the hippie lovefest atmosphere!!! OK actually, I am just really impressed with this game and company, and the people on these boards. One can not feel more welcome.

Compared to playing all the little rpgs in the 80's, some looow quality, and the lack of support....well this just a fun time to be a C&C player.

As for release dates, my money is tight (my plant slimming down and elimanating like crazy), so I too, like others, get to save a little longer, a little more, and can wait until it fits my budget, not the release date.

Excuse my spelling...just got off a night shift with below freezing temps....my eyes are blurry, my knuckles cracked....and I am whiny.

Thanks for the shoulders,

Peace
