C&C Starter Set

Post by finarvyn »

Did I miss something?

I saw on the Castles & Crusades facebook page yesterday a post of two cosplay girls in costume who won a prize of a "Castles & Crusades starter set."

Is this just the old white box set? Is it a new product? What gives?

I didn't see the pic, so your guess is as good as mine right now.

The picture was of the girls, not of the "starter set" so I was just guessing about what they meant. Almost has to be the white box set, since I haven't heard of any other one, but it would be cool if the Trolls threw together an intro set for beginners. :-)

There has been talk of a starter set for some time now, but I'm not sure if Steve put one together for GenCon or not. I don't know that I would be interested in a stater set or not at this point. The main game is so easy to learn that a starter set would almost be redundant at this point.

Not to mention if you own any of the Quickstarts.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I have them all, plus the White Box.

Well, I don't know if I would be interested or not at this point either, but it would look good on the shelf at the local game store. 5E has a boxed starter set, as does Pathfinder, so a C&C intro set with rules and dice and whatnot would be a nice selling point.

What are the chances that they needed a gift idea fast, spoke "a starter set" which in this game is little more than a PH or two, some dice, some PC sheets and possibly the M&T. Put them in a plastic bag and hand to the winners.. who just happen to be women. Are the trolls affected by the charms of such creatures?
Wow, Another Natural One! You guys are a sink hole for luck. Stay away from my dice.

If you track down the picture from facebook, the winners were little girls and not women. Charming, to be sure, but not the kind you were thinking...
