FLGS or TLG store...
FLGS or TLG store...
I saw the new Classic M&T at the gaming store the other day, but held off purchasing as I also wanted the PDF. It seems like the PDF pricing on the TLG storefront is a deterrent from actually buying locally due to the bundle pricing vs. individually. This is probably not intentional, but what benefit is there to buying down the street, then paying way too much for a PDF? I really want to buy stuff local so the store owners know C&C is an active game, but would rather not spend an extra $15...
Anyone experience a similar dilemma?

Nope. Nearest gaming store to me is over an hour away, and I rarely go there, so do pretty much all my buying on line.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Re: FLGS or TLG store...
In spite of my constant prodding, my local game store basically doesn't know that C&C exists. They will order anything I want but as to finding a random C&C book on the shelf, well it's not gonna happen.
Some companies participate in "bits & mortar" deals where the PDF is free with book purchase. Maybe TLG should look into a similar package, with low cost if not free. That way one could buy the book and get a link for the PDF at the same time.

Re: FLGS or TLG store...
I will honestly never understand the rationale behind charging for a PDF when purchasing the print copy at the same time. It is also hard to justify $20 for an electronic copy right after I have spent $30 on the print version.

I support my local game & comics shop by checking with the owner first to see if he can get a particular item through his distributors. If so, I buy the item from the game shop. The owner carries rpg stuff, has space for people to play at no charge, and I like him. I'm not big into pdfs - would much rather turn a real page. As for paying way too much for a PDF, TLG offers sales on a pretty regular basis. Just be patient and a good opportunity may become available.

I like paper books, but when gaming online, which is how I do all of my gaming nowadays, pdfs are far superior.Ancalagon wrote:I'm not big into pdfs - would much rather turn a real page.

Being able to copy/paste does make things a heck of a lot easier.Kayolan wrote:I like paper books, but when gaming online, which is how I do all of my gaming nowadays, pdfs are far superior.Ancalagon wrote:I'm not big into pdfs - would much rather turn a real page.

Yep, that and being able to "flip" through the books is faster than going through a stack of paper books at the table while trying to use the computer at the same time. As a player it's not an issue so much, but when running games it's much quicker for me to find what I need. Modules in pdf are also good for copying maps straight out of the pdf and then laying them down onto the virtual tabletop, as well as any images or handouts I want to share with the players.Treebore wrote:Being able to copy/paste does make things a heck of a lot easier.Kayolan wrote:I like paper books, but when gaming online, which is how I do all of my gaming nowadays, pdfs are far superior.Ancalagon wrote:I'm not big into pdfs - would much rather turn a real page.
Re: FLGS or TLG store...
Okay so I was just going to "bite the bullet" and order directly from the TLG site in order to save some money on the PDF/Print bundle. Then I see this before checking out: Handling Fee $0.99.
Handling fee? Seriously?

Re: FLGS or TLG store...
I have never purchased a pdf. I do not see myself ever doing so.
