Location of Yggsbourgh and Castle Zagyg?

Post by ZeornWarlock »

Where exactly is the location of Yggsbourgh and Castle Zagyg on the Erde world/map?

Thanks.

It doesn't have an exact location, as the two entities are owned by different companies. However, I believe, the general consensus is to have Yggsburgh in Outremere.

I've been thinking of placing Yggsburgh just west of Outremere, over the Aneer'rafe Hills just north of Ascalon. There is a city called Lynchitt that sits on/next to two rivers - that I'm thinking of replacing with Yggsburgh (see the detailed Bunch Outremere map).

Actually I did ask this before in an e-mail to Trolllords and this was the answer...

"Zagyg is its own setting, but its very, very small...about 35 miles across...and we've put it in the world of Aihrde (Erde) in Aenoch."

The thing is, I didn't find "Aenoch" on the map but I did find "Aenochian Forest" which is probably what he meant. Just looking at the rivers crossing the forest this, look somewhat similar to the surroundings of Yggsbourgh. I just wanted to make sure.

Isn't Aenoch the "seat" of Outremere?
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

I think Ascalon is the seat or ruling city of Outremere. That is where the Empress Pryzmira resides.

Aenoch (valley & forest) appears to be way west of Outremere. But it does seem like a good place for Yggsburgh. 8)

You know, as much as we all love the Aihrde setting, it is frustrating when we recieve cryptic answers from the Trolls (OK, not from Gideon Thorne!) without much explanation. However, I don't think that they purposely try to confuse us. I think that the setting is just so much more developed, detailed and familiar in their own imaginations that they aren't always aware of just how little we really do know about Aihrde. That said, the Trolls have already begun adding more details, vocabulary and flavor to the setting here on their forums. I for one will be glad when the day comes that a few of us faithful fans of Aihrde will know enough to be able to answer questions like the one ZeornWarlock has asked.

Haha - indeed and well said. Between the Codex, the Erde Map, the Gaz, all the other maps, the modules and lots of posts by the Trolls and the rest of us, it's still quite the mystery. Very cryptic. Erde lore masters unite!!!!

Hmm, kinda reminds of another world (GH) where the debate continues about a great many things and is constantly discussed on many forums!

*snort* Most of you folks have read the Codex more thoroughly than I have, so I try and avoid giving answers to these questions. Instead I just point out these threads to Steve.

Being a person who loves detailed maps, I will be sure to be very precise in locating places on the varied maps for folks. I can be rather compulsive about it actually. So, like my dual Table of Contents in the PHB, you'll have little trouble locating most anything by the time I am through. 8)

I believe, the way the trolls have it arranged, that doing this section by section, Austfrag, ect, will enable me to be more effective in producing a more detailed rendering of the maps.

As the A series of modules progress, the initial map I produced will expand at the edges enabling me to really micro focus. I'll get more details in when I can in the moments I can corner Steve and grill him.

Aenoch is the continent that Outremere is located on. So palce Yggsburgh anywhere on the map the seems to fit your campaign best.

Simply put:

The continent of the left is Ethrumania and the one on the right is Aenochia.

Ursal Tal once connected them.

Better re-read the first paragraph in the codex on page 122.

Well this may be true, but I don't think Steve is saying put Yggsburgh anyway on the continent!
Back to Zeorn's interpretation of Steve's email, I agree that the specific area of the Aenoch valley/forest seems well suited for Yggsburgh placement.

Well, that paragraph along with all the rest on that and the next page supports what I said. The Empress rules the lands/provinces around Ascalon as support by the league. And even though she retains the title of Empress of Aenoch, it appears she only has control of Outremere rather than the whole continent. Her castle and tower reside in Ascalon.

Yes, but as far as I can recall she is the only one with the title "Empress of Aenoch" so she is what is left of that kingdom/Empire, so she is the seat of Aenoch power in todays Erde, with what little meaning it still has.

Thats all I was really trying to point out without retyping what is covered in that paragraph.
