Adventurer's Backpack Vol.1

Post by Willy Rat »

Has anybody else downloaded their pre-release copy of this?

What do ya think?

Of the new classes.
Of the new spells.
Are the encumbrance rules being changed?

I got some questions. Where do I send them?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Hey, Willy!

The download seems to be the volume 1 of the "Black Box" Collector's Edition. If you watched the little little video Steve sent out (and posted on G+ and various place) he says that there are going to be 13 "new classes" and "new stuff."

I'm not sure if the new Adventure's Backpack is going to have these classes from the download/Black Box or not. If they do, are there 13 MORE new classes (because the ones from the download aren't new) or are these classes part of their "new classes? I don't think the encumbrance rules are going to be changed, but that's only speculation on my part.

Further regarding your questions, they're okay. If one is bored with the PHB classes, these definitely give more flavor. I like the archer pretty well, and the thief would be (in my opinion) a good replacement for the PHB rogue (I personally wouldn't use both, that's me). I wasn't overly fond of the Avatar and the Magic-User, but I like the less magic take on the classes and adding more magical ones doesn't get me warm and fuzzy.

I like the spells overall. I actually like them a lot better than the ones that were added to the game around the 4th printing (and the illusionist healing and various dragon spells).

As for questions, I'd PM here or G+, to Tim. He should be able to answer any questions you might have.

I'm intrigued as well. It would be nice to see more options added to C&C, as long as they aren't all more cool than the original options from the PH. (Unlike 5E, where the class options in the SWORD COAST book all seemed better and less balanced than the original.)

Has anyone gotten the "call back" to roll play this stuff? Is this roll play going on for months and the adventurer's back pack is not due out officially for months?

Troll time again?
