True, and some could lead to...dare I say..."ghastly" affairs?
...especially the wealthy engagements; which could lead to scandal. Hm. Perhaps the next article I do will be over Victorian scandals and the lengths to go to in order to avoid them?

Sounds like a good idea to me! There were definitely distinct differences between Georgian/Regency ideas of propriety and Victorian ones. Regency aristocrats commonly got away with things that would mean instant ostracism by the Victorian Age. Even the fashionable dresses of the Regency were considered so indecent that some artists would depict Regency/Napoleonic-era women in Victorian costume!
