Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid/Gaxmoor
Re: Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid
Flashback:
~ dinner with Gaston and his wife . . after the meeting at Fountains Abbey.
And so, the party joins Thimbleberry to journey just into the gnome grove nearby the Abbey as guests of the venerable gnome chieftain.
Evette, the wife of Gaston greets the adventurers as they enter her home. When Thimbleberry enters, she is aghast when she sees the young gnome.
“See, I knew it!”, laughs Gaston.
“She is beautiful!” squeaks Evette in a quiet voice.
“Of course she is, my dear. She looks like you . . but what else do you see that’s more important than beauty?” bellows Gaston.
Evette smirks and shakes her head, “Yes, the eyes. Intelligence, Wisdom and Charima. She is a discerning gnome indeed.”
“And who said that about you when you were a young lady?”
Evette smiles and reflects for the moment, “The young Lord Argenteus was quite the flirt, wasn’t he Gaston?”
Gaston turns quickly and says, “That lascivious flying reptilian bastard! Always very clever with his speech and eyeballing all the beautiful gnomish girls at court!”
“Gaston!!! Remember your manners!” she glares at him and then laughs. “Sorry my dear Thimbleberry, your GGGGGGrandfather seems to enjoy his liberties when it comes to talking about our old friend Argenteus.”
Gaston offers the party a glass of Scandian Fireamber and says, “Oh, I wish Penny-Whistle Scrubroot and her grandson Elderberry were here to meet their cousins!” as the old gnome pours out the elixir for all those interested.

For sure.Penny-Whistle wrote:Any thoughts on Gringnr's situation?
Will we be able to pursue that story development?
And yes, you must help friend Thurgood. I have many thoughts, but will withhold them while the party kicks around ideas of what to do. And if necessary, NPCs might be able to contribute to a solution (but only as a last resort).
So, there are ways to deal with Thurgood's situation.

Any objections to my using Gringnr until such time as Thurgood is rescued from the donjon?

The original spell leaves you ambulatory but without a soul. Just putting that idea out there as a way of letting you continue playing your wizard if Rhuvein is willing.
Re: Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid
You're not in a donjon (that would have been better), but in a void. Your psyche/soul is trapped in a prison somewhere - in an object on a far plane or planet.Gringnr wrote:Any objections to my using Gringnr until such time as Thurgood is rescued from the donjon?
Since, we already have a 2nd or 3rd cleric in Lavinia ~ you can play her or the acolyte druid, elf archer or roll up a new 2nd lvl character.
Hope that's OK with you.

The M&T states that his body continues to function, but in a comatose state. If the party can make it to the Grand Lodge of the Druid's, Thurgood will be well cared for. Or should the group discover a way to find his soul then they can immediately pursue that quest while the druids take him back.Penny-Whistle wrote:The original spell leaves you ambulatory but without a soul. A dark room somewhere in time or space.
A candle flickers . . Thurgood becomes self aware. He senses the candle. He thinks he sees it, but he doesn't see it like he did before.
. .
"Before" . . before what?"
He continues to watch the candle and then remembers the card. He choose The Void ~ and time stopped, or seemed to do so.
"Where am I, he asks himself?"

Thanks, Gringnr.
So, I'm thinking about using The Tainted Lands to be the Void if you guys are interested.
Otherwise, the Void will most likely be in one of the Nine Worlds of Scandia.

Roll 4d6. Re-roll any ones. Then drop lowest die and total others. Arrange as desired.
Max HPs and gold @ 1st lvl. Roll for 2nd lvel. For HP die rolls, if you roll a one - add two. If you roll a two - add one. So, you'll get at least 3 HPs up to 12.

Oooh, another plane/void/dimension that could be fun ~ Lost City of Gaxmoor. A short city (temple/dungeon) delve or a trip to the Undercaverns of the city.Rhuvein wrote:So, I'm thinking about using The Tainted Lands to be the Void if you guys are interested.

Food for thought.

Re: Rhu's Sunday ~ Scandia, The Last Druid
Looks like we have a dim-witted but well meaning monk on our hands. Speaking of hands, do "spiked gauntlets" do their 1d3 of damage IN ADDITION to the normal unarmed damage that a fist does? Or does Yin Kang need to choose EITHER to use his bare hand for 1d6 points of damage, OR spiked gauntlets for 1d3? Since a normal fist does 1d2, I am guessing the spiked gauntlets' damage is meant to be IN PLACE OF bare hand damage. But it seems odd that Yin Kang would need to put on spiked gauntlets to do less damage than he would bare-handed.
Also, I am using a 1st or 2nd edition physical PHB. I am told that the Monk rules changed somewhat in later editions? Can anyone shed light on this?

I'll check tomorrow to see if there are any changes from 2nd print to 5th.
For the spiked gauntlet or brass nuckolls - since the monk specializes in hand to hand combat, I should think that having those weapons on their hands would allow for additional damage.
So, yes ~ take the 1d3 in addition to 1d6!!

Btw, Gring . . if you guys decide to enter The Tainted Lands, it turns out that your cleric Gringnr might be helpful. And/or Penny may wish to use Penny-Whistle as well.
But if neither of you want to run 2 chars, no problemo. I can NPC them or have other NPCs join the party in search of Thurgood.

I don't mind running 2 chars... But Gring is lvl4, and has powerful items. I just don't wanna unbalance the party.Rhuvein wrote:Btw, Gring . . if you guys decide to enter The Tainted Lands, it turns out that your cleric Gringnr might be helpful. And/or Penny may wish to use Penny-Whistle as well.

Really? I could only find a lvl3 Gringnr on Maptools. But that's OK - because in The Tainted Lands - if he were lvl 6, it wouldn't unbalance the party!!Gringnr wrote:I don't mind running 2 chars... Besides, we'd only be using him to help find Thurgood and then he will go back upon his way (where-ever that was)!

"You are in the Well of Souls, Thurgood!" speaks a voice - seemingly with authority in answer to the question that he thought he asked of himself. "Your friends are already looking for you!"
Thurgood contemplates . .
"Who are yoouu?" he says or thinks ~
"I am Johan Baptiste. Long time resident. I've seen many come and go, but it seems that I am to be here for as long as it takes!"
Thurgood listens but does not quite understand, "What do you mean? Can I escape?"
The voice continues, "No you cannot escape. But if you have friends and I see that you do, they can free you. As for me, I await someone who was foretold to arrive at the appointed season. Now . . listen to me. I can help you prepare for the time when your friends come to find you. They will face a powerful enemy. You can help them with my knowledge!"
