Nice gnome.

But how come? Are you going to run 2 chars or are you wanting to exchange Thimble for Pickle?

OK, either way.

Sorry for the late notice, Penny ~ game cancelled for tonight.

Gringnr thought he might be a little late and I figured you and me could wait for him to start the game (usually not a problem at all), but tonight I ran outta gas. Probably because I was cooking all day and then ate too much for dinner (moussaka - yummy). Oh and the weather went from 35 (night before last) to 75 today and warmed up the house . . blah, blah, blah.

I had hoped I would get a second wind to game and/or chat about the game with regard to what we were going to do.

Since I hadn't heard from anyone about which void to use, I was going to just run the next part of this adventure and then double-back to the side task of finding Thurgood.

But we can continue to discuss.

So anyway, everyone have a great evening and we'll see y'all in two weeks right here!

Oh, cool. Lemeno what you and Penny think. I'll try to send Gringnr some basic info from the Player's Compendium.

And as far as Gaxmoor goes, if there is any interest there - I have the PDFs as well as the books (thee best kickstarter that I've had) - I can copy/paste background info and maps for the side adventure.

Otherwise . .

Aihrde has some great voids and The Rings of Brass for navigating them (might be some other ways as well).

So, the void/plane will be The Lost City of Gaxmoor!

An ancient city that seemingly disappears so many years ago, suddenly presents itself in a valley atop a ridge plateau. Covered in mist - but it does attract the many and the few, both good and evil.

Lotsa great stuff in this module/adventure/campaign. I think y'all will be pleased with it.

Tis an ancient Rome/Greece style city, but with all the coolness of what D&D can and could do with it - as presented by Gary's kids!

Hope you like it!

Heh, the PCs only know that there is an old legend about a city that disappeared hundreds of years ago.

So, first the party needs to find out where Thurgood's spirit/psyche went. Once they are able to determine which void holds him prisoner, more information about The Lost City could be revealed through interaction with NPCs (The High Druid, Eusebius may have some ideas) and/or research at the Atheneum at Fountains Abbey.

At some point I will post learned info into handouts on Roll20. I had hoped to publish a map there, but it's too large for R20.

I'll try it here to see what happens when I post it here.

Yes, it's a great job by Jason Walton who did the original cover art and did the new cover art for the 7th print C&C PHB.

Oh and you remind me, that I purchased a playcopy of the original Gax book (can't use my current copy as it is signed by Ernie and Luke) so I can scan the fabulous artwork that totally presents the excellent descriptions of the material in the book.

Very unfortunately, most of that fantastic art was left out of the new Gax book.

In the woods, after the party picks from the Deck of Many Things ~

As soon as Thurgood falls to the ground in a comatose state – the woodlands erupt in a cacophony of loud and frightful noises from evil creatures moving in to attack!

The party quickly assumes a defensive circle around and protecting Thurgood as Eusebius blows into a whistle.

When he finishes, an ogre with 2 worgs - bursts out from behind the bushes and charges to attack. And then goblins swarm from the north screaming and yelling curses as they brandish their weapons and run forward towards the heroes.

Lavinia quickly signals the adventurers into position and says, “Omaha, set hut!” She takes the offered pig skin covered object and drops back – she sees the ogre magi appear to the north-east and then hurls the pig at the enemy!! The awful creature explodes when the ball of pig hits him and his entourage. Fire and brimstone reign all around.

Then, out of she sky ~ led by the Vultures , come three huge Osprey closing fast and dropping with their large sharp claws at the ogres and their worgs. The giant birds of prey quickly rip the ogres and worgs to shreds to the delight of the vultures. The goblins seeing this display of aviary ass kicking – retreat into the woods . . only to be received by treants.

[Do you really want to know what happened to those gobins bastards?? Sorry, this a kid friendly forum – so NO! But everyone else, send me a PM and I'll reveal the gory details!]

Eusebius smiles and then looks at his acolytes, pointing to the beautiful Osprey squawking in their language as they fly away – all are amazed when they return a squawk back at 'em.

"Quickly everyone. Take Thurgood and lets go to the Druid's Lodge!"

The acolytes put Thurgood on a stretcher and run with the party to the Lodge. Eusebius holds his staff out and fires off spells left, right and behind as the party is followed and attacked!

Soooo looking forward to this...

Okay, here all all of my relevant characters, and their current stats. When necessary, I have taken stuff from the PHB 1st ED. (because I have a physical copy)

Yin Kang is a young monk who was sent to a monastery at a young age. His impoverished parents could not afford his upkeep. There he was schooled in the ways of martial arts, meditation and serenity through toil. He has grown into a formidable warrior of considerable physical prowess. He is large and muscular.

Because of his sense of abandonment, he is eager to please. perhaps too much so. He is large and agile, but perhaps too overbearing and sometimes misguided in his attempts to help. He has now been sent out into the world on a pilgrimage of indeterminate length. His task: find those in dire need of serious help, and assist them. He is slow of wit, but large of heart. He has been told that he will know when it is time for him to return to his monastery. Until then, he continues to practice his martial arts, meditation and physical training.

===money===
-At any given time, Gringnr will have just enough money to "get by". This is puzzling to many, since Gringnr seems so fixated on wealth. But any gold he finds, earns or pilfers will be offered to Mithril. Some suspect these "offerings" are merely Gringnr secreting hos wealth away in a magically protected manner. But the fact remains, that Gringnr never seems wealthy.

A modest amount of silver pieces can be found on Gringnr's person most times.

Gringnr is a bit of an enigma to many, and just plain unliked by many others. Because he knows he is is of below average intelligence, he tends to avoid conversation, causing many to see him as aloof or impolite. He is also almost single-mindedly devoted to his deity, which causes others to see him as greedy or conniving. In truth, Gringnr lacks the brains to play at any real guile. He is straightforward, if quiet, and free of pretense. In addition, he is possessed of a simple wisdom beyond his limited intelligence, one that manifests itself in honesty and kindness, even though his religious zeal might cause others to doubt those qualities. Think a Dwarven Forrest Gump, only a little bit smarter and a whole lot greedier.

Sturdy of body if not keen of mind, Gringnr at an early age threw himself headlong into one of the few life paths that did not demand too much of his unimpressive intellect: religion. He is a cleric of the Dwarven god Mithril(from the C&C "of Gods & Monsters" book). Since much of Gringnr's personality is informed by his religion, it may be a good idea to talk about the deity briefly:
Dwarves take a great deal of time thinking about dragons and vast treasures. Eventually all of that speculation turned into a dwarven god that was a dragon concerned with treasure. Mithril, the dragon, is made out of the precious metal and is the example for all good dwarves in collecting and hoarding huge amounts of treasure. When dwarves sacrifice to Mithril, they see their gold and gems vanish and know that the sacrifice is in a place no rogue or giant can ever find. This gives the worshiper great satisfaction. Dwarves are encouraged to fabricate difficult-to-open strongboxes and complex and massive vaults to store their treasures. Even the pouches and backpacks they use are supposed to have traps to stop thefts.
Clerics of Mithril seek treasure above all else, but are of good alignment and do have priorities beyond aqusition of precious metals and gems. Because they seek these things incessantly, however, they are often viewed as greedy and conniving, and their kindness will often be viewed with skepticism.

Clerics of Mithril are forbidden to pay for anything with gold, and their unwillingness to part with it furthers the impression that they are indeed greedy.

Gringnr himself does not question the will of Mithril. Nor does he question his fellow clergy. His devotion to his faith and the reptilian god viewed with suspicion by so many, is absolute, even over his devotion to his race and his tribe. He is convinced that he is working for the greater good, and that the way of Mithril is just and true. He may not entirely understand the requirements of his faith, but rather than question them, he prays for greater understanding. When faced with questions or criticism of his faith, he simply reflects upon the peace and serenity that following the tenets of Mithril have brought him, or upon the good that he has done for others in Mithril's name.

Is Mithril a false god? Is the faith actually a cult of greed that seeks to deceive adherents and unbelievers alike? Are the clergy of Mithril a corrupt cabal, whose sinister secrets are known to but a very few learned elders? Who can say? Certainly not Gringnr. But regardless, he will continue to seek treasure for the Dragon god, and to undertake whatever adventures are necessary to do so, helping any who need it on the way.

Hmm, Yin's INT score seems low based on my chargen house rules, but possible.

After rolling 4d6 and re-rolling 1s ~ did you end up with 4 d2s and then dropping one, you finished with a total of six for one attribute??

Also, a monk cannot wear armor. That said, I'm going to house rule that she/he can choose padded armor or a leather coat/vest (+1).

So, 2nd lvl AC is 12. Add DEX(+1) and armor (+1) for a total of 14!

Please feel free to choose one or more deities!

I have some new and some old from another game of house rules for gnomes. I'll try to get those up soon. And then I'll compile a complete list of house rules and post it as well.

Gnome house rules:

Innate ability spells (available to all gnomes):

dancing lights
ghost sound
prestidigitation

add:

know direction
mage hand
mending
open/close

Gnome casters at first level know six 0-lvl and 3 1st-lvl spells.

At third level casters know all 0-lvl spells.

They also now have the ability to blast enemies.

Arcane = 1d4+1 twice a day at 1st lvl (minor)
Divine = same

Spell resistance – same as elves.

Resistance to arcane magic – same as dwarves but @ +4.
