Disengaging Movement
I see that when Disengaging, the character doesn’t roll initiative. If that’s the case, at what point does the disengage movement happen? Is it at the beginning of the round before anyone else has had a chance to act?

Per page 222 of the 9th printing PHB:
1) The player must announce that they are disengaging at the beginning of the round.
2) The act of disengaging takes place first in the round, before any initiative roll, or any other combatant’s action.
3) If disengaging a character can take no other action.
So they MUST declare they are disengaging and they disengage before anyone even rolls initiative. That is, it happens before ANYTHING else.

Awesome! Thank you. I was going off of the 7th printing which didn't have that key sentence in it.
