On Sunday, me the wife and kids made the trip to go visit my parents for Easter and BBQ. My birthday is on the 11th so they did a little something for my birthday as well. I'm happy with my game related gifts:

My wife (who after listening to my not so subtle hints) picked me up Savage Worlds, Deadlands Reloaded and the Chronicles of Ramlar. *cheer*

My son picked me up a variety of fantasy miniatures and a War of the Dragon Queen booster pack.

My daughter got me some Deadlands and Boot Hill minatures. Which was great because I had absolutely none of the western genre.

So, I've got some reading and painting to do now.
Savage Worlds looks great. I'm looking forward to sitting down and actually getting to delve into the books tonight since I'm off work.

Isn't funny how families can trick you into being happy that they bought you presents with your own money.

lol yeah! Kids definitely dont have money, the wife is a housewife. So, yup, all my money.

But, now I don't have to try and explain yet another $100+ spent on gaming books this month. She got 'em.

Man, I wish I could get the wife to buy me gaming stuff for celebrations. She thinks it's not heart felt to buy me stuff that I ask for, 'cause then I'd "know what I was getting." But I keep working on her.

The Chronicles of Ramlar was a complete surprise. I had mentioned it in passing a few times a month or two ago as a system that seemed interesting. She remembered it, and I forgot.

You know, I would like to say the money is your wifes, its what she earns from you for taking care of your kids and household so you can go out and hunt (IE earn money).

However, that is what my wife told me for years. She even worked, but I made the most money. Then when she went int the Army and I quit teaching and she earned the most money it suddenly became "hers".

I quickly disabused her of that hypocritical viewpoint and made huge productions of dividing our money in half after the bills were paid to drive the point home.

Then she had this issue with spending all the money and then more that she didn't have.

Last month, just like I have suspected for years, she was diagnosed with a mental disorder that explained her very irrational/uncontrolled spending habits. So hopefully she will be able to get it under control soon....

To be fair, since she ruined my/our Christmas this past year, she has kept her "crazy" spending below $300.00 per month, and sought counseling/evaluation. So she is actively fighting it and doing what she can.

Still, a certain portion of the money is your wife's to spend, and like you said, when she, or the kids buy things you want, you don't have to do the "justification game".

Truthfully the comment was only in jest. Sure the paycheck has my name on it, but once it's in the bank I really have little to do with it unless it is sneaking gaming purchases here or there.

Heh, we don't even have a debit card with my name on it. For years I she would pester me about setting my pay up for direct deposit and I would jokingly tell her no, as she still at least needed me to pick up the check and sign my name on the back of it before she put it to use.

Hope you have better luck with painting the lead than I.. I've a ton in storage that has been waiting for years to get a little color...

Heh, used book stores are one of the few things I miss about big city living ~ along with top restaurants.

Yeah, every once in a while they turn up surprises -- I found a copy of the WoG box set from '83 at a book sale at my local library about a year ago -- box was dinged all to heck and gone but the booklets and Darlene maps were still mostly pristine and in great condition -- and it had the old 1st ed DMs screens... all for the unbeliveable price of...

$0.50 US. I doubt the people at the library knew what they had on their hands...

Wish my used book stores were worth a darn. Unfortunately the only one with gaming stuff acts more like a "collectors" book store.

Just picked up TSR #1031 - FR Campaign Setting (Grey Box) for $5 on eBay.

Never got it. I hope it brings back the good old FR feel!
