I just picked this one up at a local store here in Virginia. (And, as it turns out, every other TLG LA-specific product except Essentials, which I already have...I'm all caught up for now.)
Should be quite a bit of interesting reading in my future.
Got the PDF, because it take too long to get something from the trolls directly
I was wondering, can I play this campaigne with freshly made LA characters. Will it be too deadly for them? What could I do to boost them in this case?
I was thinking to run an introduction for each character and have them all 'Gathered' in the HOMP. Each of them would be given an extraordinary item as blessing from the 'people' that brought them there. They could only group and try to find what is happening...
To run it with C&C I would have to create high level characters right away, that wouldn't be fun, my group is too far away from the level 8+
When we tested it, we used a party of avatars who were of 7th or 8th rank though some of us had a couple cool items. Most of the panes either had goals that were not very combat oriented, or combats that could be tweeked/circumvented/etc.

Time and time again I threaten to use this box set, or at the very least ideas from it. To this point I have still done neither.

I'm thinking of running an all-Gygax campaign, so I hope to finally get to use this. I was part of playtesting, for a little while, so I did get to run some of it back then, but have not really looked at it for a while. I remember some very funny parts, and some that are downright lethal.

I think my favorite part of the Hall is the Pane with the Mbius strip. I have got to use that sometime. I played it a little in the playtest, but the party ran away before really experiencing the neatness.

I'm running a 1E HomP campaign with a group of high-level characters (levels 12-15). The party has entered 50% of all panes so far. I've replaced a few scenarios that I didn't like with other short adventures that fitted in, which was no problem of course. We only recently played that mobius strip pane btw, and it took quite some time for the players to figure out what was going on. All in all, this campaign is very enjoyable because of its diversity and the originality of its concept. We all like it.
For some scenarios, yes. But in general, I was surprised to see that many adventures were challenging even for high-level characters. I'm only speaking of the combat-oriented panes, of course, of which there are quite a few, but which are nevertheless in the minority. Most panes are either a good mixture of battle and brain, or are completely focused on roleplaying, clever thinking and problem-solving. I was even able to wing the majority of the adventures without heavy conversion work beforehand, which speaks for its quality.
