Outremere Gazateer Desired!

Post by Julian Grimm »

This is for all of us that are considering using the area and want to see it finally ageeing with the A series. Also it is a great starter area like Karamekos was.

Please TLG a 20-24 page treatment is all we need.

I'm all for good maps, but I have developed Outremere to the point where such info will be useless to me now. I definitely would like better maps, though.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

As this is an area I'm looking at for an upcoming campaign, I'd be interested in seeing some of your ideas in the area. Primarily info on the 7 electors and their duchies.

I'm not sure what product you guys are talking about????
hahah

We are working it. This has finally moved to the front of the line (PH 3rd printing, Dragons of Aihrde are wrapping up and Yex and They Who Watch have shipped). Its written, is being edited and I need to do a content read/edit on it as portions need to be trimmed. But WITH LUCK and little disturbance the thing should be wrapped by this weekend. It will come with some good maps as well.

Yayyy! Does this mean we'll finally get to see the exact location of the Blacktooth Ridge area in Outremere?

YOU'RE NUMBER ONE in my book, buddy! Because we all love good maps. I've said this a thousand times, but fantasy gamers love good maps. I honestly think that a good map can sell a product almost all on it's own.

That's actually a great statement. It worked with the classic WoG Folio/Box set and honestly hasn't been done in the same way very often. That goes right along with the way I would like to see settings presented.

Anybody know a good artistic cartographer?

I do think the maps Peter does look gorgeous. They even seem to work as a map too! The Botkinburg and Highlands area maps certainly work well.

I'm all for the GH folio mimicry. That was/is an awesome folio. Call it an "homage" to a great oldie.

I believe so. If you go to the "On the Anvil" section of the Troll Lord website you'll see that "After Winter Dark" is described as a folio with one 48 page booklet, another booklet is mentioned, plus I think it said 4 maps of some kind. I don't believe map size was specified.

Here is the link.

They should really clean this up. When you go looking for it in the "On the Anvil" section it is listed as "Rings of Brass something or other" with an $8.95 price tag, rather than "After Winter Dark" with a $19.95 price tag. Plus the written description in the main body of text describes this as still being a 24 page book. While the brief text at the top tells of a 48 page booklet, along with another book. Whats this other book? How big are the 4 maps? What kind of stock are the maps going to be printed on?

Anyhow, here is the link:

I remember Steve talking about what was going to be in each of the booklets and he discussed the maps at one time, but I can't seem to find them right away and I don't have time to look right now. So, for anyone who has more time and better tracking abilities, go get it.

Yes, I'm ressurecting this.

I was thinking that Outremere (New Aenoch) could be done in a similar style as the AWD and as the first of a series much like the Gazz series for Mystara. Each part detailing a part of the world.

Thoughts?

Steve has indicated more is to come, with greater depth, but the format/layout decisions have not been made.

Nothing fancy, decrips of the major towns, geography and such as well as a nice hex overlay map. Hell, I'd pay for this.

I would like to see this too.

Perhaps it could be done in a similar manner to the "Yggsburgh City Expansion" series? Just a short treatment on the various nations, starting with Outremere?

I had also thought a series like this could be done like the Mystara Gazetteer series.

LOL!! I wonder which generation of Trolls would get that done!

Seriously though, even though I liked the Gazeteers, I have gotten to the point where I don't want that much detail. The recent Airhde book has about all the detail I want.

Now stuff that details the various organizations mentioned would be great. So if they want to do a Gazetteer style book and concentrate on various organizations and the organizations of the various religions, that I would like. Likely Love. Just don't tell me what effect they have on the world. I want to decide that, either with what my players do, or how I want these organizations to react to my players.

Goals are fine, agenda's are fine, just don't determine how well they are going for me.

Then again, I've noticed a lot of people like to be given such info, so I am likely a minority.

I like deciding the government types, population sizes, population distributions, trade goods, key NPC's of the government, etc...

I have had enough of being told what is in a world and who is doing what. I'll use Faerun or Kalamar for worlds detailed like that, when I want them.

Now if the Trolls continue with the "nothing is canon, do it your own way" attitude, then I'll be fine with anything. Which is a large part of why I love Judges Guild and their Wilderlands setting. Nothing but ideas for me to use or discard. Nothing Canon.

I see your point. Basically I was wanting something akin to the original Outremer Gazetteer Download that TLG did but more on the lay of the land and the make up of the place. The earlier one, though good, focused too much on history and less on the other.
