Fantastical Horror

Post by Omote »

Are there any settings, or resources out there that describe a setting that is a mixture of elements of horror with fantasy?

I'm aware of Heroes of Horror, and Cthulhu Dark Ages but where are the fantasy settings that have dedicated horror elements? I guess Midnight kinda fits this mold to, but I'm looking to inject a bit of pure horror-like elements into my upcoming fantasy game sessions.

Any thoughts? Idea? Links?

Thx.

Ghostwalk. Inferno. Abyss. Gods of Hell. Vampire: The Dark Ages. Aquelarre. Kult. Nephilim. Well, most of those to a degree... not totally fantasy-based.

I think The Heart of Glass book from the Trolls, might be an interesting mod/city setting along those lines that you suggest. It's set in Aihrde and has a tremendous - dark, evil feeling with vampires and other nasties. It's been awhile since I read it, but love the mod. I have plans to tie it to Ravenloft and set it in the Red Hills.

Evernight for Savage Worlds.

I'm really looking forward to running that one.

I'm just trying to decide if I'm going to convert it to C&C or run for SW.

Darkness & Dread for 3.x introduces the concepts of a Warhammer-like setting and adapts the core classes for horror/fantasy settings. I am working on adapting it to C&C, it should be easy.

Cheers,

Antonio

If you're looking for spooky-style events, there's a thread on the WotC boards that lists a bunch of strange goings-on for use in the Mournlands of their Eberron setting

Here's the link: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=407341

They also have a creepy events thread that tends to be more modern-oriented. Just in case, I'll give you that too: http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=166882
