AD&D per se is as dead a system as Latin is a language, while the C&C game has much the same spirit and nearly the same mechanics. --Gary Gygax 8/16/06

I have a single-use magical item, what do you think?
Seeds of the Climbing Liana.
A magical item in the form of a large, egg-shaped seed. When placed on any earth, soil, sand, or rock within 10' of any vertical structure (wall, rock face, tree, etc...) and watered, a vine erupts forth which will clamber up the adjacent structure to 150' high. The vine produces evenly spaced branches which are well suited for easy climbing (equal to a ladder), and can hold up to 2000 pounds of weight without breaking. The growth takes 1 minute per 10 vertical feet to complete.
The vine will remain for 1 hour, after which time it flowers, withers and dies. There is a 15% chance that the vine will produce 1d4 more seeds before dying.
