Yggsburgh in Aihrde?
Yggsburgh in Aihrde?
I'm just curious to know....
The Castle Zagyg line (including Yggsburgh) use the TLG standard map background which I believe is Aihrde. When the folio comes out, will the C&C version of Aihrde "officially" have Yggsburgh within its scope, or is that mini-setting wholly separate and the use of the maps as background just a default thing?

There's been plenty of suggestions, but I'd wager to say that the settings will be kept seperate, even officially seperate. Just a theory though.

When I do up the C&C folio thing, it'll have the Yggs area map on it instead.

C&C Folio thing? Two have been mentioned, the AWD folio and the Eastmark Folio. Care to expand on your comment, because I don't understand?

This still begs the question;
How well will the Eastmark / Castle Zagyg / Eggsburgh first in Aihrde?
It would make me quite happy if I could put the two together and just have one mammoth campaign world to play in.

I think that regardless of the Eastmark Folio's "setting" you'll be able to drop in Yggsburgh and the surrounding territory in to Aihrde fairly easily. However, it's pretty clear that the two products seem to be seperate from each other.

Definitely if Airhde keeps the same design philosophy of Erde. IE I am referring to the "intro" in the Erde book where the map scales, population size, etc... is up to the CK/DM to decide upon. There by making it even easier to fit Yggsburgh into it.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

River problems
It seems to me that putting CZ/Yggs in an existing is problematic due to the rivers. If the rivers were left out I think it could be plunked into any Medieval/Renaissance era campaign area but those rivers keep giving me a hard time for where to put it.

How big are the rivers in relation to the map though? If the rivers are 'small' enough, they may not show up on a bigger map (though these same rivers would have to be fed by a larger river or other large body of water).

pretty big
the rivers are pretty big, one of them can support ship traffic even. Yggs. has two of them wrapping around it even. Perhaps the only place to put it in is GreyHawk which others have found it plunks exactly (rivers and all) into a spot by renaming a city. Seems EGG did this on purpose as a "Ha! That's MY setting WoTC!" :p
I've gone all over my Mystara maps and can't seem to find a spot there it would make sense in without having to make an undiscovered island.
Other than that GreyHawk spot I've thought of making it a new Banestormed island in GURPS' Banestorm campaign setting.
The whole question may be moot anyway as it seems to me that the Castle Z project is dead in the water anyway. We've still yet to see anything after the Yggs book and D.Chateau. I'd love to be wrong though...

Found a spot in Mystara afterall. See this thread: http://www.freeyabb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... ames#52290

Yep. Of course I may have the same attitude if I hadn't seen your maps at GenCon 06. However the Castle project is definitely moving forward.
With you doing 10 by 8 foot maps like you mentioned in the other thread I can understand why its taking so frigging long.
