I'm just getting back into gaming with a foray into C&C, but going back 20 years, these are the RPGs I enjoyed:
1. AD&D 1E
2. Gamma World 3rd Edition (I ran in Kim Eastland's campaign for about 6 months in high school and it was beyond awesome)
3. Marvel Super Heroes
I tried quite a few others (e.g., MERPS, GURPS, Star Frontiers, Doctor Who, Call of Cthulhu), but never really got into them -- particularly Doctor Who, which was absolutely pointless unless you were playing a Time Lord. I did enjoy reading Paranoia materials. They were hilarious, but I can't imagine how it could have been playable.

I agree and if you'd like to see the world of Paranoia done in a way that is playable, try the Paranoia Mandatory (!Bonus Fun!) Card Game. It's way more fun as a card game than as an RPG.
These days, in addition to C&C, I'm fond of the following games (even if I'm not playing them at the moment):
~ Rolemaster Classic (originally 'Rolemaster 2e'), with Rolemaster Express as the 'basic rules'.
~ Angel/Buffy ('Cinematic Unisystem' from Eden). I use 'Angel' for all my 'modern' games (despite the title, it is quite 'generic', and can be used to run anything from Call of Cthulhu to secret agents to low-powered supers).
Over the years:
~ MERP
~ D&D (Basic/Expert/RC, AD&D 1e, 3e)
~ Runequest (2e)
~ Dragonquest (2e)
~ GURPS
~ WFRP (2e)
~ Star Frontiers

I tried getting a game of Paranoia going at LGGC III with no luck. Since a few of you have played it, I'll try again next year. If you've read some of the materials, you may have already racked up treason points so you're on your way! (to the execution chamber that is) It's a great game as long as you remember to have fun.
I've got the Doctor Who books but never ran it. Too bad. The game should really be designed so it's fun to be a companion.

Dude, I bought a copy of Conspiracy X and it appears to be a very nice system (unisystem). I really need to give it a go. Any chance you will be making it to Gen Con and perhaps running a Unisystem game?

I had a game waaay back in the day called "Villains & Vigilantes." Did anyone ever play this? I think I just rolled up some characters, but never found anyone to play it with. One neat feature was it had a model penal code at the back of the book so you could know what crimes the super-villains were technically committing and how much time in prison they would get if you defeated/caught them.

Doubtful since Akrasia is back across the Atlantic and not in San Francisco anymore.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

There are "new" variatins of that game out nowadays. The one with which I bet you could get players with is Mutants and Masterminds 2E, by Green Ronin.

Other than Marvel Super Heroes (which we did play off and on for a few years) I never got beyond D&D (AD&D, AD&D 2E, and 3E). I/we have bought and looked at a few other systems (Middle Earth, Dangerous something by EGG, CoC, the old Star Wars) but never took the time to learn them, until C&C came along.

Haven't played the card game, but have both run and played the RPG. Its a blast, but requires a certain mindset. It definitely is less about roleplaying and more about group slapstick - good for a few adventures here and there, a great game to blow off some steam, but nothing something I'd play routinely.
I've played every system mentioned before and enjoyed it... but no one has yet mentioned (that i can see)
Top Secret/S.I.
and my new guilty pleasure
MEDDLING KIDS! hahaha...seriously the best $5 I've spent on a RPG book in a long long time.
That last game is seriously too much fun for a one nighter.
