It does have a large map upgrade (so to speak)? ... I've been on the site only briefly to download the demo so I didn't stick around too much... just noted the price and experience how easy and intuitive it was.

Is it though one of their 'art' packs? (due to lack of a better term) How big of a map can you make with it? Sorry if I'm barraging you with a bunch of questions but so far this is a clear winner in terms of what I've been looking for but the larger map factor initially seemed to be a factor that I wasn't sure Dundjinni was able to address.

Any additional info you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Yes... I think I'm sold on this program. I'm going to give Dungeon Forge a fair shake though but Dundjinni is definately running in the lead at this point!

I believe I'll be dropping some cash coming next payday!

But with the main program being $39.95 that still some good value even when you add a few art packs. Cheaper than getting expasions for Campaign Cartographer!

Well, I just returned from the Dundjinni site. Not only did I pick up the Campaigns Add-on, I also bought the Temple/Castle/Village pack and the Classic Dungeon Art Pack for that Old-school look.

So, my 15 dollar intention turned into 52. LOL

Good point! When I was in the store completing the downloads, I noticed that section and proceeded to download several additional collections of art. One that looks really cool shows isometric views of buildings.

What the heck is isometric you ask! It is a 3/4 side view, rather than the top-down view that Dundjinni is known for. It adds alot to the look of a village.

All the maps (that I've finished so far) as been made in CC2.

I'm using CC3 but they dont have enough packs to do what I want just yet.

I bought CC2 waaaaaaay back when it was a $100 program. I was severely disappointed by the tremendous learning curve of the program. It's basically a stripped-down and modified CAD drafting application like AutoCAD. I can hand-draw and color a map in roughly 1/4 the time it takes me to do it in CC2. =)

BUT, your maps look great, Kyle! Glad you're having fun with the program!

Really? Maybe I've just used it for a bit now. Even so I dont consider myself an expert. But I can make really detailed maps in no time. For example this one,

took me all of about 20 mins. But you're right about the learning curve. Once you do get it however, its an amazing program. Much better than dunjinni, i would not recommend that one unless all you want to do it make 1" maps. (at least that was my experience)

p.s. Sorry updating my site. I'm thinking of turning it into flash. My architecture of that site is a lot bigger than my www.inquisitionsquad.com site...eek... shoulda planned ahead.

I guess you're right. But that's like with everything though. Gotta put the time into it.

I've been meaning to try fractal mapper. But I'm not sure if FM is worth it.

From what I hear, CC2 is supposed to be better than FM. I dunno from personal experience, though. I guess I just like the 'hand-drawn' look....I draw a map out on parchment paper and then use a lighter to put burn marks and holes in it...then crinkle it all up to give it that 'aged' look....heh. I have fun with it.

I just went to your Lykarnia site, and it appears to be down. It may just be a matter of bad timing on my part, but i thought you would want to know.

Yup I actually took it down because I'm restructuring that site. It's not well organized right now (structurally). So it might be a few days before I get it up again.

Sorry missed this post earlier

I have CC3, but it is not "established" enough yet. It doesnt have a lot of the features in CC2. Including the map packs etc for what you see above.

The background for that map above is an add-on for example. And I personally, like the hand drawn look rather than the cartoony. But that also depends on the "feel" of the campaign.

But it seems to be very CPU intensive for some reason and can be a pain to work with. For ex, it gets choppy on my laptop:

2.6ghz

2 gigs ram

6800GT

That's not a bad system but CC2 is SO much smoother.

That is *very* good to know. Although I'm sure my system can handle it, with those kind of system stats, I know I wouldn't be 'immune' to the effects... it's also probably not even optimized for a dual core system either.

With specs like that, it seems to me you shouldn't be having trouble. Graphics programs are known for being RAM hogs. At that speed and considering what you're making, the CPU shouldn't really be an issue. Personally, I think it sounds like your laptop may have some other issues...unless they're still working the bugs out of CC3 with the trial builds (which is entirely plausible).

But that's just my opinion.

I can use the CC3 pretty easily the problem occurs when you're looking at all the super high res objects at once in the "inventory" for the lack of a better word. At that point the redraw rate is really slow. I dont have that prob with any other program that I use for graphics and what not.

Also the lappy imho is fine cause I was just playing Doom3 at max settings on a LAN.
CC3 is just not optimized yet.

Looks like a good program to use. But I dont think it will work with CC3, you'll see if you use it what I mean. Their viewer is embedded in the program if you want to see all the objects at once. Sometimes there's hundreds of them. Although you can use the slider on the left to select objects it's too slow when I just want one object and I have to slide all the way down.
