Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Huh, what? You're surely not referring to that old phony internet rumor about the military cracking down on D&D are you? Fagettaboutit?

Luckily for me, TSR still had their mail-order going in the mid-'80s when I was overseas in the US Navy - it was still 1ed and it was good!!
Thanks, guys! Keep up the great work!!

This is a very decent thing, but this comment concerning U.S. allies is rather strange:
Umm, why mention allies in Iraq but not Afghanistan? The Canadian military has over two thousand troops working in one of the most violent regions of Afghanistan (Kandahar), but I guess they don't count as 'allies'? Why the hell is that? What about the other countries with troops in Afghanistan (including those much loathed French), filling the role that the U.S. largely vacated in order to focus in Iraq? In short, since when are the countries listed the only 'allies' of the U.S.?
Okay, I'm getting a little political here, but I have to say that I'm rather irritated that some important allies are left off the list. More Canadians have died bringing stability to Afghanistan than Bulgarians have died in either conflict. (Let alone Israelis! Why are they on the list of allies? They're not involved in either Iraq or Afghanistan! I've got nothing against Israelis, but there isn't a single conflict in which they're fighting alongside U.S. troops.)

I think they were left off the list more becaues the list is long rather than as any kind of political statement.
I am sure Canadians are included. 90% of the news here in the US deals with Iraq, very little of the crap going in in Afghanistan gets mentioned.
So I am confident your getting offended over simple over sight, rather than anything intentional.

No reason to get upset. This was on oversite on my end. I'll get it fixed right up! Probably tonight or sometime this weekend.
I'm also forgetting our brothers to the north!

Pretty much. Quibbling over nits when in the face of such an outstanding gesture, honestly is a tad oversensitive. One can assume Steve, a military man himself, obviously means all pertinent allies.

You guys need to do up a T-shirt with your sig quote on it. Preferably with some of your super cool art on it as well.
I would buy that just like I will be buying the Pathfinder T-shirt.
I even wear these in public. Like I wore Fat Dragons "When you go fat, you never go back" T-shirt when I went to Tucson a couple of weeks ago. I swear I saw the faces of at least a half dozen gamers who wanted to come up and talk to me about my T-shirt, but were afraid to do so for whatever reasons. Presumably because we were in public.

My apologies for "getting upset". (Although I know a few people serving in Afghanistan now who would object to characterizing their role there as merely "nits".)
It is a very decent gesture on the part of TLG. Well done.

*chuckles* Do you think someone with a last name like "Chenault" is going to consider france evil?

I think the only ones upset with the French would be "The Decider" and his cronies because France didn't jump on his war wagon when he wanted them to.
Other than that, I've liked the French, except for some of the Parisians. Only some of them.
From what the non-Parisian French told me even they have problems with Parisians.
But yeah, I doubt the Chenault brothers can dislike anyone who makes good beers, excellent wines, and other superior alcoholic beverages. Plus some excellent cheeses and other great foods.

TOOOOOO Funny & tooo true!
While stationed in Italy I had the chance to train with allot of the NATO & NATO want to be countries. One FTX had a hand full of french pilots & other airmen & soldiers, all were stand offish at first but some were rude -even to the other europeans & their fellow french. After a few glasses of wine -not during the training but in the evening- they kind of apologized & said the rude ones were from Paris or acted/wanted to be.

I was just reading about the bumper crop of poppies predicted for this year in Afghanistan ~ 15% higher than last year's 7,285 tons!!!!
95% of the heroine goes to Europe.

I agree with your sentiment but this statment is patently false. The US did not reduce troop numbers in Afghanistan to invade Iraq. A great majority of the US forces in Iraq are simply tactically and strategically incompatible with Afghanistan. It's two very different battles in the same war.
The US can project military power across a wider scope than anyone else in the world. One big reason, and and an example, the United States has more "special forces" than the UK has forces, period.

Well I tend to agree with some of what you say, but speaking of falsehoods:

Many would argue that political, idealogical and psychological propaganda have no place on gaming fora.

Pretty much a valid point. And, perhaps the topic might be better served elsewhere since its such a hot button one?
Course, I'm still a bit disappointed that such a nice gesture from the Trolls is being nitpicked at with such negativity. One should always assume the positive with Steve and Davis and simply accept that they can't always list every soldier, in every place, in every part of the world; and such absence is not intended as any sort of slight or hidden message.
Time to move on to more productive conversation wot?

Yep, via Kosovo and Albania. That drug money also funds the UCK/KLA's actions in the Balkans. Has for decades now. Spooky stuff.

ok, the ENTIRE Canadian army - that's Joe, Frank, and Marty to those who don't know the Canadian army, are currently mobilizing and scurrying around trying to figure out how to counter the last big enemy - the big bad ruskies and it's antagonistic act of placing a flag at the bottom of the Artic ocean on the North pole.
Rumour has it, we will be sending our entire navy - that's a zodiac with a 5-hp outboard Mercury fishing motor with a single life perserver to those who don't know the Canadian navy, in a dashing display of one upmanship by making the herculean attempt at traversing the st. Lawrence during Baluga mating season. While risky, we'll show em you can't put a flag in our waters and expect to get away with it!!!
so.. do those 2 brave men and one possibly cowardly girly man qualify for the armed forces discount as well?
Don't forget, for all those years, we kept all those shiny white big domed looking radars up and running, and were ready, willing and able to pick up the phone and call our friends to the south with the words "dudes... umm... in 8 minutes or less, umm... you're F@#%ed! eh!"
cheers,
J.
(who is still astounded that with an active armed forces of 3 individuals, we still somehow need 53 generals to command them )
