Heh, funny. Is the girl Emma Thomson? Chris Walken would be a great DM.

Don't know Don Cherry though.

Ahem.

Don Cherry is, according to whom you ask, either the Second Coming in expletive-spouting, houndstooth-jacket wearing form, or a loudmouth schnook who has been inculcated with the belief that Hockey (and yes, that's capitalized for a reason) is the divine activity through which God seperates the men from the boys, and said men are only located in North America...not Europe, not Sweden, not the former Sov bloc...just North America.

In Canada, he has been accorded demi-god status and can grant spells (as long as such spells involve the reduction of the NPC's morale roll) up to fifth level. Verbal components invariably include an endless raft of the deity's expletives; somatic is one (or two, even better) extended middle fingers aimed at the other team (and their worshippers); and the material is a substance known as beer. Actually, I better capitalize and bold that last one: BEER. High priests of this demi-god predict that he will deliver the poor and disenfranchised from the world domination of soccer and lead a crusade to make the "Hockey Night in Canada" theme the national anthem. Other than that, his sphere of control doesn't cover much...except some kind of protection from hangovers. Maybe.

That's about it.

Nope, just more hockey. Don Cherry is like the John Madden of the NHL. He's a studio guy with Hockey Night in Canada on CBC.

I might have to fight him then. How old is the bastich? When I grew up and played hockey, there were no helmets and no face masks for goalies. I still have scars and bone bumps around the ankles.

Well yeah, I don't watch hockey 'cause the game moved too far into fighting and less of a great sport.

We grew up going to the Chicago Stadium to see 1 of 5 teams play the Blackhawks with Bobby, Stan, Nestor and others. Every team had tremendous superstars. The worse guy in the league could skate and play with Gretsky any day.

Bobby had huge guns and played with a broken jaw. His slapshot was horrific and brother Dennis had a fast one as well. Had a friend who used to get us sticks from players. and oddly I'm a lefty but play hockey righty, so I used to use Gordie Howe's sticks all the time!!!

Who would have thought to keep them - eBay.

If I start thinking about it, I'm sure I could name all the name/numbers of the Hawks - circa '67 - '73. And back then, I knew all the other team's player numbers.

When Wirtz wouldn't pay Bobby $100,000.00 to continue to fill the seats at his stadium and he jumped to the WHL, that was it for me. I watched WHL games for several years and then goodbye.
