Its why I think this is the best module of all time,

I agree on that. I played it years ago actually 3 times. I never got close to the Big S, but was never mad at not doing so, unlike most other adventures. I can't remember most of what specifics were where & I'd forgotten just how evil & twisted the traps are..... I remember now though !
Hope you all are having a good weekend. It's time to dress the baby for church then I get to paint more.

Rob.

On a different note, Dros will suggest to the group during our healing process in the sanctuary to have the restoration done via spells to save on potions if thats possible...

You aren't kidding! DEEEEP voice! Good guitarists and drummer though. I put that one on my "Kill them all!" playlist.

Speaking of which, can I spontaneously cast Restoration spells? I know you couldn't in 3E, because they weren't considered "cure" spells, but that doesn't really make any sense.

As far as I know from 3E, you can't. Clerics can only converts spells to curing spells. I think I remember a thread that Tree stated that. I dont expect priests to be able to convert their spells to anything us, albiet they are healing to some degree eh. (Not in the hit point department but in terms of levels and I guess indirectly hit points
I have had this asked of me when I DM games and my answer would be no, only curing spells can be spontaneously converted into.

I also have a question: How much do our characters know about vampire weaknesses? Such as even if we kill Strahd, do we know about ways he may regenerate and return so that we can try and make his dirt nap eternal?

From other games I have played, the CK feels if we know something, our character knows it as well. I guess it is up to Robert to decide on that. My fighter probably wouldn't know much about weaknesses where paladins and clerics may know....

Part of the reason you were "chosen" was because of your expertise and focus on fighting undead, so it is assumed you all know what is in the M&T entry on Vampires.

Just realize Strahd is considered to be the "first" vampire. So to expect Strahd to be "by the book" would likely be a HUGE mistake.

Hi guys. I hope everyone is looking forward to tonights game, I know I am!. On that note, I may be a little late showing up unfortunately. The game session time is 9PM EST. I will be supervising a fundraiser with my wife at our school until 9PM EST. So I should be home around 20 min after that. If you all could wait til 9:30 PM EST it would be great as I dont wonna miss anything, but if not, go ahead and start and Ill pop on when I am back home.

I posted my character a few weeks ago, I can do the same if someone wants to play Alexandros til I get there (however I rather play him myself.....)

If we finish the fundraiser (which I found out last night my wife volunteered me for) early, it wont be an issue.

Let me know what you all think.

Thanks, Rob.

I love it when the player finally shows up just in time to be killed.
Then again, thanks to role play more than anything, the Thursday group survived to fight another night, so hopefully you guys will to. My Monday group is done and back to playing their campaign next Monday.

Some cool stories, I think, for the three groups to share when all is said and done.

I know the Monday group enjoyed what I shared with them when they finished.

I just thought of something:

If Gistal had applied the Widen metamagic effect to his fireball (increasing the area), would Strahd have been dead?

If your check would have been successful? Likely.

Friday group lasts one more week, and boy did they have Strahd running!

Fortunately luck fell on Strahds side, or Friday group would have won tonight.

Now it gets really ugly.

I was also thinking of throwing up walls of fire to trap the SOB, but after the first one caused what it did I decided to hold back. I really wanted to buy a T-shirt that read "I killed Strahd and all I got was this lousy T-shirt", but such is life. Boys, I think we need to keep going without resting up. Maybe find something else we can use in here or something else of Strahd's we can destroy. He used up a lot of spells, and we still have many of our own spells as well as having a fully healed party. I think we should go on the offensive before he can rest up and restore his magic.

Day 3: We survived. Had Strahd on the run, but he escaped. Day 4 will go badly for either him or us.

I totally agree. Somehow we gotta find out where he is, go on the offensive, and if it costs us out lives, so be it. What is the alternative? Rest up and gain what back, a few spell slots? While Strahd returns with all his, and healed AND his lackies??? Lets get this done people, one way or another....

There were several "what ifs" in that fight. If the cleric had rolled a 4 instead of a 3 on the sun effect you would have had him, 5 feet to the west would have had him, 11 more points of damage would have had him, etc... Strahd got very lucky. Lets hope you guys have that kind of luck next time.
