We had a good plan. We were well prepared. We even had a few surprises in store for that darn vamp.

The result?

Can't get into too many specifics, but multiple characters (including my own) exploded in clouds of rust colored mist, generally in about 3 rounds

I love you guys! So many people would have very bad attitudes after getting pounded into meat patties!

Of course I rolled a fair number of crits on that openrpg dice bot. Plus it didn't help that Strahd didn't fail a single saving throw.

Anyways, thanks for adding such a great chapter to the history of Ravenloft.

Our normal game resumes next Monday. I've offered my daughter a 3,000 XP bonus to her Witch character if she writes up your run through Ravenloft. She said she would. Let me know if any of you are interested in earning such a bonus.

With her being the last to fight Strahd maybe we can do a "perspective by perspective" write up if enough of you are interested.

This does mean writing from the time you cross over into Ravenloft until your last moments.

I didn't define an exact location, plus I had you guys travel a long time by ship to land on a small islet which seemed to be obviously made just so new victims could dock a ship and enter the black fog bank.

I believe the GH maps put out by Paizo gave an official location, but I don't remember the module itself giving such a location.

I have long ignored official locations, since technically the realm of Ravenloft can change location at will in my interpretation. I have the realm be a demi plane, much like it is in the Ravenloft campaign setting, and black cloud banks manifest on various worlds, in various locations, to draw in new victims.

Thanks Tree. I was just curious and had similar thoughts as you do.

As of this moment, I too won't use the planes for RL, and have thought to place Ravenloft in the Red Hills just to the northwest of the United Kingdoms in Aihrde.

But, since I have parts of WoG incorporated into Aihrde, I may just put RL in Greyhawk.

Heh, so far I have the middle area of GH - Wild Coast, Gnarley Forest, City of Greyhawk and Maure Castle loosely placed to the west of the Blacktooth Ridge.

So I'm just musing at this point.

The Lion in the Ropes might be my group's next adventure and it has gypsies, so I may throw a hook in there to offer up Ravenloft possibilities.

We'll see.

Here is a good eBay auction for some excelelnt "setting" material. If your just interested in using the module this stuff isn't any good, but if you think you may want to expand things these are good to pick up.

Thanks. I think I have some of this stuff and some other things in shrink that I have not opened ~ so go ahead, it's all yours for the trying.

I've actually been looking for a play copy of I6, but can't seem to find one at a reasonable price. But I'll keep looking. I don't want to use my Silver Box copy.

Hehe, the Noble Knight, Dee Hein in our group kicked the living (undead) crap out of Strahd and turned him into a gaseous form. At that point my wizard blasted him with fireballs to his final resting place!!!

Yes, the Monday group won too. I asked them to not reveal that fact until all groups were done.

What was interesting about that was:

a) the players _really_ thought their way around the problem, once they had been given a rare opportunity to do so. And the final solution Bran/Rhiannon came up with was very clever indeed, given the nature of Strahd as presented to us.

b) even though doing it was going to "break the module" to a certain extent, the DM did it. He did not back track or deus ex machina us away from a clever solution. He said, hmmmm, you actually found a clever loophole here, and allowed it.

(And then we still almost all died )

Woohooo! My "rule of thumb" finally pays off. I just go my copy of I6 from ebay for $8.25 (includes shipping)! The only problem, the copy is excellent-mint. Heh, I was looking for a beat up play copy. Now I'll have to get another one, so I can keep this minty fellow in case I ever meet Tracy Hickman.
