I say it air day. Probably wrong, though. Then again, I bet the trolls don't know either.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Much like the German Erde (meaning World). But bieng the A-mer-can slob that I am, I pronounce it as Tree does, Air-day.

My wife, who took German in college, says it is more likely to be pronounced like air-d.

Ya know this kind of name is a pet peeve of mine. You find this kind thing in all types of fantasy. I think it detracts from the story. Its hard to remember a place or person who has a name that you stumble over every time you read it.

It sure makes it hard for an old bard to write a balled about Sir Kjntortdq killing the dread dragon Psdtfzk.

Heh, before the name change, I think I was pronouncing it Urd. And then seeing the spelling of Aihrde ~ "air-d" seems right.

Rig is right, at least from a German perspective. This is how I always pronounced it, but I have heard it pronounced a few different ways from the Troll Lords and related folk. SO, it would be nice for an official word... but I'm thinking it's Air'deh.

I pronounce it "aired" rhymes with "laired" or "cared". So obviously any other pronunciation is just wrong.

That's the closest to the German way of saying it. And how I now pronounce it, but used to say it as, "erd".

I think this would be my favorite pronunciation, IF one were too ROLL those "R"s ~ Aihrrrrrrrde - a la Scottish or Celtic/Irish.

Say, let's ask a Leprechaun then, shall we?
