Games you *hope* don't suck

Post by jman5000 »

hehe.. ok, we've been talking about the past, games that should have but didn't and games that did but shouldn't have sucked.

What games are you hoping (or supplements), I mean REALLY hoping don't suck!!!

Me, Warhammer 40k RPG...

That's got all kinds of cool written over it if it's done right...

cheers,

J.

Crimson/Cursed Empire.

Its not a new or pending game. Its been out for awhile and I've had it for awhile. It looks awesome. I mean this is some cool as hell, dark fantasy gaming.

Isn't it?

I've not had a chance to run it yet. The system looks a little complex, but still cool. I hope that when I do get a chance to run this game that the system doesn't suck.

I hope Mongoose Publishing's Traveller doesn't/won't suck. Or the new Talisman.

My main problem in regards to the CKG is the length of time I have had to hype this product up mentally. Generally, when that happens I end up imagining something FAR cooler than what it could possibly ever be. Leaving myself disappointed with the actual end product.

I even do this when the end product is actually pretty cool. It still doesn't live up to my expectations because of the sheer length of time I had to build it up in my head.

yes. that. exactly

also, I fear there will be undue comparisons to 1e dmg - because of several reasons that should be self evident to most.

finally, because the trolls have had issues in the past with 1st printings and errors, errata and quality...

Cheers,

J.

Depends on what your definition of "suck" is. If you think of it as a way to spend money to socialize, I'm sure you'll have fun. =)

Mongoose Traveller... But really more the Judge Dredd and Strontium Dog rpgs that will be done with the system.

I also hope the new Warhammer 40k RPG doesn't suck.

Whatever MMORPG that BioWare is cooking up. Rumors abound of a KotOR Online, and it would be super awesome to have a game fill the void left by Star Wars Galaxies. Hell, it would be great to have any game that's not just a WoW ripoff.

Same here. Is Twilight 2013 kind of like Twilight 2000?

Also, though I don't have it I hope the Paranoia d20 doesn't suck since I kind of need to replace my old book of that game.

In the case of Paranoia, at least, game mechanics don't matter that much. I've played extremely fun games of Paranoia without knowing a single rule and the other players were in similar situations.

Mongoose Traveller: I hope it doesn't suck, although I'll be more likely to get Marc's T5 when it is released around the same time because it is supposed to be the "superset" to Mongoose Traveller.

Oh my, yes. Good call. I had forgotten about this game since GenCon. I'm really looking forward to it. Good call.
