Racial section in the AWD Folio?
Racial section in the AWD Folio?
For those of you who already have this product (just ordered mine recently), is there a section in one of the books that goeas over the races and subraces like in the back of the Codex? I'm just curious as to how the Trolls did the different subraces (Twilight/Wood/Wild/High Elves and civilized/nomadic halflings). If they did not address this subject in the folio, then if I ever run a campaign in Arihde, I'll have to house rule those subraces, as I feel they are one of the components that give Arihde it's uniqueness.
Or, if this info isn't in the Folio, but will be in the Airhde boxed set (if it ever happens), that would be helpful knowledge.

No, they didn't address the specifics of these races like they did with the Codex.

Yep, should be fun, methinks.
Just be sure to do justice to the half-faeries! And post your conversion, if you please.
Hmm, this reminds me of how I would like to remove half-orcs from my world and replace them with half-giants.

Maybe we should brainstorm this together on SKYPE sometime.
One thing I always hated in the "isolated DM days" was no other DM's to bounce ideas off of. After all, only another DM really "gets" the importance of some kind of balance.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

That's a good idea, Tree. I'm gonna start making some notes today. Once I get a chance to type them up, I'll post them and then we can start to critique/edit them.

I also suppose that there is no "conversion" for certian aspects of some groups, such as the wizard/priests of The Paths of Umbra or the assassin/clerics of the Crna Ruk or any info on the Runemark.

Here's a thought that occured to me. The Trolls still have the Aihrde box set as listed for future release. I'm wondering if the info I seek will be in that product. Any Trolls want to pop in here and let us know.

Since races of the Aihrde world has yet to be covered in any C&C product, I would think that the future box sets would go into this topic.

Well, having sat down today with the intention of really getting into the races from both the Codex and the AWD blue booklet, I've discovered that most of the "conversion" is just cosmetic (with the exception of the high elf). Change a wood elf's skin to black, give him orange eyes and you have a twilight elf. So I think I'm gonna hold off on this until I get the AWDF and read through it.

It always kind of shocks me how easy conversion to C&C ends up being. I converted material from Dawnforge. I expected to spend a couple of hours doing it. I spent like 45 minutes.

We discuss the races a bit in the Codex, though they are a bit watered down as we intended the setting to be digestible by just about anyone. If you go too far you loose alot of people, and it has always been our approach to go a little along a road and let individual CKs, DMs, GMs change it as it fits there need.
The Aihrde box set, now really knocked off kilter as the Basic set and CKG are proving more time consuming than we had hoped, will discuss this material more. One thing we did not do in the Folio, but is intended for the greater set is a complete discussion of the races, their history and branches. For instance, not mentioned at all in the Folio and only touched upon in the Codex are the two 'families' of dwarves, the Argrind from Gorthurag, and the Uthkiin (sometimes mis-spelled as Ithkin in the Codex) from Grausumhart. After the Kinship Wars these peoples separated and rarely dealt with each other, only coming together in the Fourth Goblin Dwarf War. Kingdoms such as Grundliche Hohle were spawned by the Argrind, whereas Norgorad-Kam came from the line of Uthkin and Norgorad-Kam did not come to the aid of Grundliche Hohle when the Horned One battered its doors down and they only marched in the Winter Dark Wars after much promises and cajoling from the Dolgan, King. Some of the dispute was settled upon the field of Olensk where the two kinds came together and died together. But the dispute it too old and the kins too distant to come together and they are separate peoples.
Same with the wild elves. Those elves who stayed behind or were forgotten and wasted utterly by the Dark. These are few in number and utterly wild. Possessing only distant memories of their pasts they live free under moon and star, are superstitious, light warriors whose lives are built around living off the land or raiding. These are touched upon in the Crusader.
When the Aihrde box set comes out all this will be dealt with, but if time permits I'll post a bit of it on the Aihrde pages. We plan to really upgrade those pages and put alot of free downloadable material there.

Steve, that's great info on the races and the box set. Also, I can't wait to see the new downloads. Racial info is one aspect of a campaign world that I really enjoy.
