Just found out about C&C and went out and bought the PHB and M&T books earlier this month. Man, what a cool and easy to use RPG system that harkens back to my old D&D days in 1978 (Yes, I am old).

Just thought I would say hello to all of you here on the forums. I look forward to talking to all of you. I am sure that I will have many questions as time goes on.

Hi! I'm new to the C&C crowd as well; in fact, I should be receiving my mail order in a couple days. Getting excited! I used to play back in highschool/college but haven't done much RPG in the past 15 years. Now I have two sons, 12 and 9, who are interested in the RPG experience so I had to find a good system to use that would not overwhelm them. C&C definitely appears to be a throwback to the AD&D I used for so many long gaming sessions back in the "glory days" -- I'm looking forward to opening up a new campaign with fresh faces (with my wife, an old-time gamer as well, there to help them along!).

Cheers to you, and a toast to a fresh beginning and years of great RPGing to come!

Welcome! Just be aware if you still have your old books they will be very useable in C&C, so don't get rid of them!

Unfortunately I do not have all my old materials. Lost all that a long time ago. Had a long hiatus as Life grabbed me by the short hairs and forced me to be responsible! But I'm settled in, my boys are ready to get some RPGing going, along with a nephew and his friend (they're about 19). I think the ages of the group are something like 12, 12, 9, 19, 19, 37. And maybe a 64 year old if I can get grandpa to jump in!
Looking forward to the ride, it's been a long time since I ran a campaign. It's like a bike, right? Same pedals and all that?
Alwyn, good luck to you as well, I hope you enjoy jumping back in as much as I hope I'm going to! Maybe we can share notes as two old time gamers getting back in the saddle.

Welcome to the monkey house fellas. You shouldn't have trouble with the system, it's a breeze to run. We have a very knowledgable group of posters as well, so fire away with those questions.

Gosh darn. Way to disappoint me. I was hoping that TL had some new C&C poster for sale. A big one, printed up like a nice art print, framed and vibrantly colorful so it would complement my decor.

*sigh* Welcome, nonetheless.

I lost a lot of my books ,too. When I went away to Basic, my wicked evil step-mother threw them away because they were satanic and she didn't want her son getting into that kind of stuff.

Basic, Expert, Companion, and Master box sets. All gone.

One more reason to love C&C. It is still keeping the spirit alive.

Thanks to all of you for the welcome.
One of the things I really like about C&C so far is the ease in which I will be able to use all of my old D&D stuff. I still have all my original AD&D (1st Ed.) books and a ton of the old TSR modules and settings.

I had left playing D&D for a while and I have been playing ICE's Role Master and HARP for many years, but now I have a reason to go back to a d20 system. IMHO D&D was getting overly complex and bloated with all the options and prestige classes, plus all the 3.0 to 3.5 baggage.

With C&C I should be able to run my kids and their friends (8-11 yrs) through the game without confusing the stuffings out of them and constantly looking things up in the books. D&D, Role Master, and HARP were a little beyond them, but C&C seems like a nice fit.

Plus I (and some of my friends) have been yearning for the old nostalgia from back in my early RPGing days.

The last D&D book I got was the Complete Overwhelmed.

CharlieRock,

I have actually not been out of the RPG saddle. I have been playing, just not D&D since the 3.0 to 3.5 change over (went back to the ICE stuff).

I am more than willing to share notes with you on how my C&C games go once we get started. I am still playing ICE's HARP with my friends, but we are going to start playing C&C as well, plus I am planning on running my kids and their friends in C&C too (they are begging).

I don't know if this old brain will be up to the task, but we shall see. C&C looks easy enough to run and one of my friends has validated this (a lot!).

Anyway, look forward to hearing from you on your game as well. I am sorry to hear that all of your books were thrown out, that just plain sucks!
BTW, when did you go to basic and where? I joined the Army in 1979 and retired in 2000. I had a lot of good roleplaying experiences while I was in.

Treebore,

HARP has a lot of good points, but my kids and their friends found it to be complexed. So I started looking at C&C after it was recommended by a friend I RPG with. Now I am hooked. So far, I have liked everything I have seen.
