Please note, True Believers, that Gary is referring to but one of the manuscripts that will be in that boxed set. We're still working on the rough form of the remaining parts of The Upper Works, but all is progressing quite well!

As an impatient fan, I'd happily grab up the modules as they were completed, rather than waiting for boxed sets that could be many more months in the making.

As for how the CZ parts are marketed, that's strictly the call of the Trolls. Jeff fears frustration because of PCs inability to exolore various means in ingress to lower pirtions fo the locale. However, as an old hand at dungeon delving, many a player in my campaign was turned back from steps down by the appearance of a (okay back then Balrog or two) standing at the bottom of the stairs pointing to a sign "DO NOT ENTER! Dungeon Level Under Construction."

Gary,

I was wondering if you have seen or read The Dangerous Book for Boys? I picked this up for my newborn son this week as something for him to have later and it sounds like some of the older books written for boys back in the day. In fact some of the things in there sounds like your youth adventures you've shared with us and there is a chapter in there on RPGs and it suggests buying the original Dungeons and Dragons to start with.

If you get a chance check it out. I reminds me of books that I inherited from various family members. We had alot of fun doing things from those books. One other thing the book has is sections on important ancient battles. Worth and addition to the bookshelf if for nothing more than a nostalgia read IMHO.

I don't know if this question has been answered before in some other forum, it certainly hasn't appeared here and so I'm trying my luck and apologize in case you have to repeat yourself. I'm currently reading the East Mark Gazetteer and was wondering whether the Mouths of Madness adventure was intended to be a kind of homage (or perhaps even rewriting) to the Caves of Chaos from B2. The similarities are too obvious IMHO to be pure coincidence.

Well...

The various caves and encounters around the ruines of Castle Zagyg are meant only for exploration and adventure by parties of would-be dungeoneers coming to the location to see what the place is all about. The various lairs are a preface, if you will to the castle compound and ruins, which are the intoduction to the dungeons beneath.

So, to directly answer your query, no. Although there might be some resemblance to the D&D game B2 module, that was not based on my game campaign, I made it all up on the spot. The CZ material is all drawn from an extensive "bible" compilation based on my campaig,

Speaking of that bible, I'm guessing the bands of elves and dwarves mentioned in Mouths of Madness are based on the guardians that taxed PC parties. I was happy to see them, as well as some of the other campaign all-stars you've mentioned.

Hi Scott,

Indeed, virtually all of the original interesting features of the campaign dungeons will be in the latest incarnation of the castle. Some will be presented veryt differently, some with parallels to the original, and some just about as they first appeared to delving bands of PCs.

Something old, something new, and all of it different while remaining the same in spirit.

Gary, are you in Go Packers mode yet? What a disappointing loss yesterday. Poor Grossman cant catch a break. He was throwing the ball well early on. Too bad the receivers couldnt hang on, the line couldnt consistently block, and the defense folded. Who could blame him for looking lackluster towards the end.

I could always send you a Terrible Towel and a Steelers jersey. They play the Patriots next week, big game.

Right on target there,

I have lived in Wisconsin long enough to feel a good dealof fondness for the Packers even though I am first and foremost a Bears fan. Thus, if the Bears have no hope I do root for the Pack.

The Bears receivers are terrible this year, and the play calling is not much better. What a disappointing loss to the Giants

The only thing this season has done for me is making me reevaluate the Chiefs. Looks like I can finally forgive them for hiring Joe Montana. They are definately looking better than my beloved Rams.

The good old Cleveland Rams!

The Clarendon Park boys football team in Chicago c. 1945 was named the Rams after them. I recall because my brother was the middlewieght boys' boxing champion there back then.

What a game last night, eh? The Ravens surely game the Pats all they could handle, and the New Englanders came back like champions.

When the AFL was iriginally formed, I was most skeptical about the quality of the teams...and I was correct. However, with the merger into the NFL, the AFC teams came up to the level of those in the NFC in a very short time. Currently, the AFC is likely stronger than the NFC.

All in all, the expansion has proven excellent for all concerned. It seems a poty to me that the Canadians don't use the same rules as we do here in the USA.

That was a good game. For all the crying the Ravens are doing, they clearly gave that one away.

Next week it's my home town Steelers turn at the Pats. They're number one defensively at all of the stats New England is number one at offensively. I think they have a chance.

If I wasn't a Steeler fan, I'd like to see New England's lose to the Dolphins two weeks from now, and have that be Miami's only win and remaining the only team with a perfect season.
