I think I have found a reason why they have the highest epp in the game.
I converted my oldest surviving character from 1e D&D to C&C, a 20th level paladin.
Disregarding my converted paladin, how in the world do you deal with the insane spell resistance that a paladin gets with a holy weapon?

Well, Holy Weapons should probably pretty darned rare. But regardless, at 20th level, a PC of any class should be darned hard to hurt.
If the Paladin has a Holy Weapon, and I'm trying to challenge him as a GM, I'd probably set him against an evil cleric who might try to turn him. SR doesn't apply to that. Also, my evil cleric would spend more of his spells buffing his minions then have THEM fight the paladin. Maybe I'd have my pet red dragon talk to the paladin about the melting point of plate mail. If that doesn't work, an evil wizard of high enough level could always cast Disjunction!

Its way I limit it to 10, period. A 50/50 chance is good enough. The only other thing I do, which is because I allow INT/WIS to be used to modify rolls to overcome SR, is I allow Paladins to add their CHA bonus to their Holy Avenger SR. Which can still get high, since I give tomes/manuals as treasure. Like the 12th level Paladin in my home game has a 23 CHA because of it. So if he were to ever get a HA (he will, but its going to be awhile yet), his SR will be 15.

Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Simple..... holy aura's don't stop crossbow bolts. Especially in swarms. It really doesn't matter what 'level' the character is. Unless the paladin can bat 500 crossbow bolts out of the air, he's pretty well toast.

Unless, of course, you're dealing with your basic dual-classed paladin/monk. It's a good life; smite the demon, ride into town with the nice silvery armor, smile and show off those pearly whites that go *TING!* when they sparkle and the surfer-like hair flowing in the breeze...then pull off the Karate Kid crane stance and intone so-simple-there's-got-to-be-more-to-it wisdom while doing that multiple missile deflection. "When you can catch the crossbow bolt and not make a breeze, you will have learned..."
