It sounds like we have the beginnings of a grand regular Thursday thing going on here. I'll see Josh tomorrow, and will broach the subject of him joining in on our fun. Yes, if we can get people rotating regularly with 3-4 week modules of different genres, that sounds great. If your friend Josh wants to try it that would be good. If he can DM some Call of Cthulhu that would be even better.

That was a fun session tonight. My fears of disaster were for naught (for _computer_ disaster, at least )

We really got to see how a vast combat would go. I thought it was actually pretty smooth for the number of players we have, and the fact that everything on line takes a bit longer.

The storyline is developing in interesting (and surprising) ways. All of a sudden we have a Man With No Name movie coming next week, which was not in the original module. Although it will be a little different than you expect.

You have most of the pieces now to figure out what is what. Treebore was close, but a bit off.

When I post the summary, I will include a few pieces of info that either 1) I forgot to make clear tonight or b) got a bit lost in all the durn shootin'. So read it carefully.

There were some funny scenes tonight for sure. What with Buffalo chopping down a gunfighter like a lumberjack while said gunfighter was unloading a loaded colt into him at point blank range (he was 4th level by the way, so pretty tough)

Don't even get me started with what the priest was doing with all of those visits to the outhouse, or Frank Green bravely choking an armed man to sleep

Or a certain "sharp shooter" creasing a companion's buttocks with a rifle shot
I thought your guys' tactics and roleplay were very good, as per usual.

I told you last time to bring your shooting irons. The scale of violence seems to be escalating each week. Next week, bring you dynamite.

I am VERY interested in this! Do you have any room for an additional player? I have always wanted to play in a western setting! Also, how do I get the go for your gun rules?

We have already started. In fact we are nearing the end of our amusing romp. It has been an interesting adventure

The rules are as listed by Emryys. Essentially it is C&C SIEGE in the wild west. I have heavily house ruled the game (with mixed success )

I have been keeping a summary of the game in the "Crusades" section if you are interested to see how the game has gone. It's here

I am sure my example will inspire many many (pale) imitators, so there may be someone else who will try this in future.

OK. The summaries have now been added from last session. Phew, they take awhile to write, those summaries.

I emphasised a few things in there to make it a bit clearer. Hopefully you will pick up on it in the summary.

For next session, I think we will go with the following rule:

When making a ranged shot for which they are set, i.e in a shooting position (kneeling or prone) Annie and Tom can use the feat "Precise Shot", for free.

Everyone else, and Annie and Tom when they are not so set, can make a SIEGE check to precise shot (TN base 12 for scouts and gunslingers, 15 for everyone else, ACC modifier). Fail the roll, and it is -4 to hit.

Thanks emryys. Dead Mule is getting more dangerous of late, but I hope Bill Honeywell can keep up his postings !

As to the graphics, do you mean miniatures of wagons and horses and so on? I would not mind taking a look.

I actually bungled the map making so all of the miniatures have to be .tiny . But we will keep it in mind if we ever return to the fabled Wild West.

Thanks jaybird. You got it in one. I am an avant garde summariser. It's not anachronistic to reference the Simpsons in a Wild West summary, it's cutting edge...or camp. I always got those two terms mixed up in avante garde school

I just noticed this thread and was thinking the same thing. I might be interested in trying this with FG2. I've got Go For Yer Gun and OGL Wild West (just to spice up the combat and weapon choices a little bit) and would probably use those. I'd just have to fiddle wih the C&C FG2 ruleset a tad, but it shouldn't be too bad.

This is where all those other players have been hiding!
We are coming to the end of the module now (hopefully, by Dec 20).

However, we are planning/spit ballin' the idea of continuing the Thursday slot in the new year for rotating DMs to come in, DM for 3-4 weeks, then sit back down and enjoy playing in the next person's wild 3-4 week adventure

The idea is to play some different genres in there (ideally, ones that have been adapted to the very simple and easy SIEGE engine). But by no means is straight C&C precluded (in fact, C&C plus some classic TSR modules would not go amiss)

So, if you wanted to run a western game, you could run it in the Thursday slot. I would give it a go as a player.

It looks like many of the participants of the Thursday game are thinking of getting Fantasy Grounds, so that might work here as well (I already have it)

Also, I have a house rules document that covers about 2/3 of the rules we are using, so you might want to bulk up the GFYG rules a bit.

Thanks guys. That really was a fun one. I was laugh-coughing through the whole thing.

Then to top it off, my newly fixed computer shut down on its own again like it was doing before I "fixed" it.

Sorry we ran a little long there spak man. And we still did not get to the big shoot-out (which is rumoured to be coming. Only rumours)

There are still 2 big set pieces remaining (the resolution of the "deputies" situation, and the following through of the treasure map.). The treasure map involves other wilderness encounters that I can streamline or expand as we see fit, but I think we want to do a bit out there. It will definitely not be as extensive as our Dead Mule excursions.

But given that, and we have 1 ssession remaining for the 20th, do people want to:

1) compress it to all fit in the 20th.

2) find a bonus Christmas Special Day somewhere in the holidays (maybe the 27th?) and do it in 2 sessions

3) finish it in January

4) Switch to Burrows and Bunnies immediately. Enough with all this insane violence, I just want to hug a carrot. Soooo delicious
