Alright, I think I've cracked the code! Err...if there is a code... Perhaps I've just found the spot that makes perfect sense to me.
Yggsburgh has a decidedly English flavor to it; in Aihrde, the nation of Kayomar is likewise noted as being English in flavor. (At least, it is in the intro to the Codex of Erde...)
Everyone pull out your Aihrde/Cradle maps, please....
On this map, Kayomar has a North Mark and South Mark, but no East Mark listed...however, when I look to the east, I find a confluence of one long river (the Ardeen) and a short unnamed one, in the same general angles as the two main rivers of the CZ/East Mark map -- and in precisely the spot one would look for an 'East Mark' of Kayomar...Hmmmm.....
Following this train of thought further down the tracks.....the Bergrucken Mountains are noted as the eastern boundary of Kayomar, but there is another range of mountains or hills between this theoretical East Mark and the rest of Kayomar (on the west side of the Ardeen river). One might point to this barrier as an explanation for Yggsburgh's status as a 'free town', as it would lay on the very frontier of Kayomar.
The Menhir Hills occupy a large chunk of the west end of the East Mark map; perhaps these hills flow into the presumably larger hills/mountains west of the Ardeen.
What say ye? I like it.
With Gaxmoor not far to the north, campaign opportunities are rich in this area.
Oh, and I think I'm going to re-name Du Guesillon -- it's going to be the city of 'Ludnum' from the Canting Crew book.

I think you've got some great ideas here!
And . . you'll get the Darkenfold Forest as well in this area - Mortality of Green!! And another module in the works.

Thanks, I'd forgotten about that one.. The 'Dwarven Glory' PDF module also takes place there on the western end of the map. Other than those, am I forgetting any modules with an official placement in the west? Which new module will be in that area?
Other than Lakofka's Lendore series, all of the classic Greyhawk modules took place on the western map, if I recall correctly, and none of my campaigns ever went east of the Nyr Dyv...not that there's anything wrong with that, necessarily, but it'll be nice to have springboards on both sides of the 'Cradle'.

Just to drive everyone nuts. C2 Shades of Mist will have a much more detailed map of the Darkenfold and surrounding areas.

This is probably of gideon_thorne's design. A strategy to keep Aihrde map discussions going on eternally so that these message boards never die down! I'm on to you, pal... *points menacingly*
