Sweet new maps are now available, but they won't download because they are so backed up from free pdfs!

They look like the maps from the AWDF.

Anyone have these yet? If so, how is the resolution when you zoom in?

I have the Folio, but I wouldn't mind having the maps on the computer too -- especially if you can print zoomed sections without losing much resolution.

I'd pay a buck each and find out myself, but RPGNOW was malfunctioning when I tried to do so.

The two world maps are about 6 megs each. The resolutions is decent enough for standard printing. You can zoom in too much. at about 300% pixilation becomes quite apparent.

So in your estimate, are they more detailed than the printed ones??

Thanks.

Might not get the same quality at 6 megs. The original files are about 400 megs.

Ack! They aren't all free. The "heartlands" are a $1.00 each.

Mine are downloading as I type this, and are about 14 MB each zipped. Hmmm....will report in later on my 'zoom & print' experiment...

Edit: success! Mine were 17.9 MB (West) and 17 MB (East) when unzipped. I printed a zoomed section at 300%, and it came out great! It doesn't seem to pixillate badly until 500%. 300-400% seems like a perfect size for penciling in personal campaign locations/info. These PDF maps will be a very valuable supplement to the Folio.

I wonder why Omote's were only 6 MB?

I just realized that the maps I DL'd were not the Cradle of the World maps, but the Sepia migrations and overall world maps. Those appear to be at a slightly different resolution.

M'bad.

Okay, I have the folio, but the digital versions would be nice if we could have hi-res files to have blown up at kinkos. I like the the Airhde map that came with the folio, but it is in 2 sections; I would like a large poster sized map with no division. I was disappointed to see the digital version is also printed as two separate sides. I think we will see the giant map someday!

Well, I have a picture of the "Cradle of the World" as one map, but I doubt the resolution is very high.
