Obscure boardgames

Post by serleran »

So, peeps and peepers, what be your recently discovered board game that ye be sharing with other like-bodied incorporeals?

For the me, it is a game from South America:
RPGQuest

It seems to be a bit like Warhammer Quest slashed with some Deathmaze (or Citadel of Blood as it was later renamed - and by later, I mean the next year) so its the same spirit as Descent, Dungeon Twister, and the like, but niftier, in some senses.

Zulgyan, if you come to New York, and we can arrange a meeting... any way you can snag one of these and bring it up? ;) Obviously, details would be arranged beforehand.

ahh, Starship Troopers. Fun, fun game. To be fair, we had almost as much fun designing the bug lairs as we did with the turn-based combat that was supposed to ensue. But the weapons were awesome. Tac-nukes, baby! [another reason why the '97 movie sucked]

For me, I got out of the weird and wacky, rare boardgame biz. Out group of gamers would constantly pick up little and little known boardgames and play them just because of the rarity and wackiness... after spending big bucks on eBay and BGG, I think most of us got tired of these games because they often... stink! Sometimes.

For a few years now it's been pretty much nothing but normal gamer boardgames, like Talisman, all version fo A&A, etc, etc.

I picked up a copy of WEG's Tales of the Arabian Nights not too long ago, and am hoping to dig into it this weekend

That looks like a Brazilian game, and I'm from Argentina and unfortunately don't speak Portuguese. I'll see if there is a way to get this anyway, so I can take it to you to NY.

Well, it isnt rare or obscure, but a little pricey. We have been having a blast playing Descent and the two expansions. The game is absolutely a blast to play and last game we had Huds0n and KHartsfield game up with us. Maybe one of those cats will roll in and give their opinions on it, but everyone seemed to have loads of fun.

Man we played the crap out of that game back in the day! I'm jealous because I know you are going to have a rip-roaring good time!

Most of my group is unavailable due to holiday commitments. Guess I'll play Arkham Horror by myself...
Good news is that you can play AH by yourself!
