Goodman Games DCC Campaign Setting

Post by yipwyg2 »

Check it out
http://www.goodmangames.com/5034preview.php

Setting is 2 books, 2 modules, 4 maps. Looks pretty cool.

I plan on getting it, however I will probably convert it over to Castles and Crusades.

I saw this deal in the local bookshops over the weekend that was a thick, 200 + page hardback compilation of low level adventures from Goodman. Neat idea. ^_^

I should add. I scrolled down a bit and took a look at the maps. Now those are things of beauty. So says the cartographer fan. ^_^

This really has a Known World feel to it, sorta like the old gazetteer products. I love it already.

I'm thinking I should start collecting these things.

Very interesting. Another environment that will work very well with C&C.

Enjoy!

Even with the price tag I'll probably pick it up.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

So, is this a setting stolen from the DCCs, or a wholly new one? I might get it, but I need to know if its new stuff or just compiled.

I believe that it is sort of like what troll lord is doing or has done. Goodman games is basically releasing the campaign setting where all their DCC modules take place.

Yeah, it's a bit on the high set, but A) I love boxed sets, B) I loved the DCC's, C) It looks to have a real "Known World" quality to it, and D) two new (exclusive?) modules! Convertconvertconvertconvertconvert!!

Necromancer is kind of doing the same thing with Bard's Gate and the upcoming Reme, both are locations mentioned in Crucible, ToA, Rappan Athuk, and one or two others. Then several of their other modules by Lance Havermale piece together his Hawkmoon setting (the size of a Barony). Wonder if Lance is going to use his Hawkmoon setting in Mr. Kunt's new venture?

Yes, it looks really good. And the best thing is that it's a boxed set - love those things! The cover art is a well-done homage to the D&D Mystara Gazetteers and the maps look really good. I also like the fact that two adventure modules are included. Very nice!

Looks like a fun product! While I like the DCCs quite a bit, I hope the quality of the SETTING BOX SET is better then the DCCs.

Looks tasty but at $70? I don't think I could do it, even if I were intimately familiar with Goodman's stuff.

I would've replied with a SOLD! except for the pricetag. I'll still probably work up the gumption to buy it, anyway.

The cover is pretty neat. And not a hint of dungeonpunk on it!

I'm curious about the 0-level rules as well.

It looks interesting and does have a nice Known World feel to it. But I also agree that $70 is a bit steep compared to the prices I've been spoiled on with TLG.

This price jump in alot of things has put me off products like the Wilderlands, Ptolus and others and this will probabbly be the same thing here.

I think that the days of $40.00 and under box sets are long gone, regardless whether or not it is affordable for the RPG companies.

Of the 4 box sets I've bought or will buy in the very near future, they were are all above the $50.00 mark.

FURY OF SHADOW $50.00

WILDERLANDS OF HIGH FANTASY $69.99

RAPPAN ATHUK RELOADED $69.99

DCC WORLD $69.99

As long as it ends up at Amzaon for around $44 like the Wilderlands boxed set I'll be happy.

Personally, if I'm paying that much the set better be able to get me snacks and wipe my behind as well as being a good setting.

When I was checking the day before yesterday it was around $44. Ptolus is full price.

I admit it, I'm a sucker for a campaign setting, especially settings with a more generic flavor that I can mix up and mine for ideas.

The MAPS for DCC WORLD look awesome, especially the fact that there is a PLAYER & DM map.

It seems that DCC World practically leands itself to the C&C game as a fairly generic, sword and sorcery setting.

I'm definately interested in this, the price though looks to be rather prohibitive for me.

I'll probably find a way to get it eventually regardless. I too am a sucker for a good setting.

Sorry Dragonhelm, I thought you were talking about the WL price, not the Goodman price.

This is a must buy product for me. I have always been impressed with the DCC series, and this setting looks over the top!

Looks interesting, but I like my 1st Ed Greyhawk. The price is a big minus for me.

Those of you going to GENCON will be able to pick up a copy of DCC WORLD there. But get your copy early as they will be far gone by Sunday afternoon at the Con.

I'm not going to buy it, but I added it to my list of things-to-have-someone- else-buy-for-me. We'll see.
