Any recommendations for Solo adventure
Hi,
I am in the position to start playing C&C with a single player. Any suggestions for good single character adventures? I am comfortable with converting from any edition of D&D.
Thanks
Wolfram

I have been running a ton of single player adventures of late. I have found two main ways that work for me.
1- Make npc's to fill out the party. Now nobody likes to play with npc's running or calling the show so make sure the leadership role goes to the pc. In the game right now the paryt is: Huge 1/2 orc warrior npc:"nice guy raised by a priest and has a heart of gold with a wicked temper but VERY slow inteligence wise." Gartu the dwarven npc cleric who was kicked out of the temple for his drunken and immoral behavior. Beut the cute little human npc female rogue who thinks she is a lot smarter than she really is and that everyone is a sucker. And the actual PC
Every NPC in the party has a flaw that drives them as well as many good things. Each one can be counted on to pull there wieght but at the same time needs a leader and someone who can watch out for ther personal foils.
Also keep in mind these few npc's need to be details much more than normal. Full backgrounds and goals need to be created for them as well as at least 3 hidden secrets for each. Those dont need to be anything drastic....the 1/2 orc for instance happends to really love Orc war music done with drums and when he is off alone will often bang on something repeating that song.
2- Run solo adventures that are much lower in level. I have found most adventures 1 rank down work fine as solo "at least for midle levels".
If the adventurer is 7th level I can often run a 1-4th level adventure for them solo.
At times even this needs to have some work done on it.
For starting solo at 1st level goes a good murder mystery with heavy role playing and high exp rewards for such work better than most things.
Low level is a perfect time run some low combat high drama type games.
Hope this helps some

You know, with the right CK preperation many modules could be made for solo play.
How about the adventure in the Mentzer Basic set with the sexy Aleena!

There's a product called Engineering Dungeons that can be used for solo adventuring, if desired.
Hi,
I am already buying that, any idea when the release date will be announced?
Thanks everybody. I did not think of the old T&T stuff, and I did not know about the Exp Retreat Line.
The tips on running in general were great.
Thanks again,
Wolfram

It will be released as soon as it is finished in layout - there was an unexpected delay which I cannot go into; the text is done, but I don't know if more art is being added (I only included the bare essentials for what I was doing.) Trust me, folks, I want to see it out as much, if not more, than anyone else...

I only give you a hard time because it is probably THE product I am most anticipating - yes, even more than the CKG.

If you don't mind running third edition D&D modules with your C&C I would recommend Expeditious Retreats Press 1 on 1 Adventures.
If you play Tunnels & Trolls you can convert those adventures, too. Most published ones were for solo play.
I got and read through "Gambler's Quest" last year - made for a level 2-3 Rogue if I remember correctly - and it was very good. It had a very cool castle area with all sorts of events hapenning, places to explore, and a small plot arc which progressed and seeked out the player whether the player took the trouble of looking for it or not.
I can say I would have enjoyed running it (never got the chance to, though ) and recommend it.
