I made up a little one shot to be played in the Tuesday slot, but that has been cancelled on me.

So, since we have an open slot this week, we could try that if you guys are interested.

The game is lightly modified C&C. The set up is: the PCs are a unit of specialists, given various missions by the local thieves guild.

We would need Spakman for a Maptools server, and we would probably need 3 or 4 players. With Treebore and Rhiannon out, that means Spakman, Jarred, and ssfx17 at a minimum. Am I missing anyone?

Anyway, post if interested.

I have already made all the characters (even made the tokens!). All are rogue/??? multi class characters. And, for added spice, they are all dwarves, gnomes or halflings!. I will post all the characters and the set up information if we get a quorom
So far the characters I have made are a dwarf Ft/Rg "Bravo" (intimidator) and a halfling Ft/Rg "Bravo" (sniper). There is a gnomish Ill/Rg "Sparker" and a halfling Cl/Rg "Bookman".

I can make more as needed, or variations on the ones proposed.

It is low magic, level 2/2. Stealth oriented missions. In this mission, you have been tasked with sneaking into a merchant's villa and retrieving something valuable. Sounds straightforward...

Excellent choice

You tend to take the characters that are a) interesting to play and b) have a low chance of survival . I tend to choose the same kind of characters

So if we can get Jarred we should have at least 3.

OK, as I understand it I am up next with EPICrpg, I re DLed the 100 page "Quickstart", its about 12 megs in size. I can get e-mails next week or we can see how getting it via SKYPE goes. I am pretty sure I sent it out before, so check to see if you have it already.

Remember, I have permission from Darkmatter Studios to share this PDF with you, so if you end up liking it you can buy the full game off of Lulu.com.

OK, I have been thinking about possible future games for our group. Here is what I have:

Twilight 2013 (newest rules set for Twilight 2000)

Starblazers (FATE based sci fi)

Savage Worlds (of Soloman Kane)

Legend of the 5 Rings 4E (just released!)

The (in) famous Aftermath!

One of the most often rated "WORST RPG of all time!" Synnibar, but personally I think its one of the best powergaming games around.

Along the same vein, RIFTS

Paladium Fantasy

Harn

Chivalry and Sorcery

HARP

Judge Dredd (Traveller rules set)

Runequest, but I have not bought into Runequest 2

Mutants and Masterminds 2E

What I have or will be able to have by the end of the month:

A Song of Ice and Fire - I have two copies of many of the books for some reason, and I need an excuse to send one of them to one of you guys. Low-fantasy politics, backstabbing, sex, more sex, very graphic underage sex, etc.

Anima - explicitly designed to be like an anime, or at the very least, like a Japanese-style role-playing game, very complex compared to other class-level-fantasy games

Castles & Crusades: Fields of Battle - large-scale battles, you all should know the Castles & Crusades part quite intimately already. Characters would probably start at a higher level.

Dragon Age - another module, or possibly trying out something of my own design or someone else's design

Dying Earth RPG - very rules-lite game set in the strange universe that inspired "Vancian magic" and Ioun stones

Eclipse Phase - just look at the tagline on http://www.eclipsephase.com/ for an idea of what this game is about

Lejendary Adventure - Gary Gygax's last fantasy roleplaying game before he went to a better place.

Sengoku - 1500's Japan with the Fuzion system, probably would be very fantasy-oriented, so lots of ghost-sealing and demon-hunting in the midst of a war-ravaged land

Shadowrun 4th edition - I don't have any modules, so I would either use one of those free missions, or make up a 'run from scratch

Smallville or Supernatural - Cortex-based games set in today's world. Smallville has some extremely-different character mechanics compared to standard Cortex. I'm also familiar enough with Cortex to try out a non-fantasy modern game of spy espionage or something like that.

The Riddle of Steel - realistic fantasy, very detailed combat

Warhammer 40k: Deathwatch - Warhammer 40k roleplaying as Space Marines or other high-experience characters

Dying Earth! I never thought someone would offer to run that. I have a bunch of that stuff. Although the impression I get is it may be a bit on the wonky side, rules wise (various mentions of getting in a kind of loop of opposed checks).

I also worried it would be too hard to play (very role-play oriented) so I never suggested it. But I would like to give it a go

I don't really know a lot of the other ones. Doing a Fields of Battle would be fun. I think I am doing some of that in some other games soon, but as a one shot it would be fun

I don't know what Starblazer or Synnibar is

Palladium Fantasy, Harn, HARP, Runequest, and maybe C&S are really just fantasy variants. Unless they offer a really different flavour (like Warhammer did) it may not be worth the unfamiliarity with the system. It is difficult to run mages and the like in such games because the rules are totally different so you can't really optimize your use of spells and skills etc. It seems to me a SIEGed type C&C game is the best choice for that flavour, unless there are really strong flavour reasons.

Now you're talking. Solomon Kane sounds fun. And I think Savage Worlds is pretty straightforward as a system so no problem with varying levels of rules knowledge

Aftermath would be a fun nostalgic romp. As I recall (played it once) it did not have mutated monsters (or maybe just very few). So it is more of a gritty post apocalyptic game. I downloaded the rules (as well as Bushido and Flashing Blades) a while back. Flashing Blades is part inspiration for the future swashbuckling game. But most games by them (Fantasy Games Unlimited) are noted for _very_ clunky rules. Even for the time they were made. So that might need a lot of SIEGEing

Mutants and Masterminds is a good short term game, and would suit the play style of the group. But it is really prone to the "builds" problem like some of the other games (people who really know the rules will make stronger characters and the rest are bystanders while the builders do cool stuff).

Those are my thoughts

ok so as of last night it appears i've been nominated to run a game

i've looked at what i've got.

i can run a heavy gear game either a military style game or an outlaw style game. both will be gear heavy.

or i can run a prototype of a larger campaign i've been designing. Basically it would be a test run of my magic system for silhouette. the setting borrows alot from the iron kingdoms by privateer press but is not the irom kingdoms. so animated constructs, guns, magic, war etc.

also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBoF1XCBN5E&feature=sub

something i saw today that piqued my interest.

ok so it'll be a gladiatorial game set in the badlands city of khayr-ad-din.

you've all come for the spider's web open tournament.

first prize is 500,000 marks/dinars and a three month contract with the spider's web arena. (they'll make you famous son)

the players will be both co-operating and competing with each other.

i've decided that the first few matches will be 1 an obstacle race, 2 a match of block and run, 3 capture the flag/king of the hill. with time permitting 4 tag team, 5 free for all.

andre is playing a prettyboy showboat in a highly mobile close combat light gear.

i'd like you all to think about the style you'd like you're character to have.

some considerations being: is he/she of a military or civilian background? what brought them into the world of duelling? are they a pro or semi pro duelist, an underground gladiator? are the running from something? addicted to drugs? seeking out fame and fortune or vengence?

this is not a game where you're all good buddies! You'll get no points with which to build characters from flaws, but i expect you all to have at least a major one, and that YOU PLAY IT. alternative characters to play other than pilots are, sporting agents, support crew, various other underworld shady scumbag types.
