Hello.

I had my first taste of online gaming on Tuesday, and Nate and Curt (names?) directed me here. I'm potentially interested in a diverse menu of games if any playing slots open up.

Well right now we are 6 in total iirc.. Me, Kurt, Jarred, Adaen, Treebore and Titania. so thats 5 PCs plus the GM.. we had more than that before (I'm pretty sure we were 8 at the largest), so I'm sure another joining in would be OK.. of course its up to Treebore, as hes running the next game.

Hi David-

I was Thog the barbarian in last night's game

We are just finishing up Paranoia (I hope anyway). Next up is Shadowrun.

Each game has its own thread (e.g. Thursday Paranoia SIEGE)

The way we run is every 4-6-ish weeks a new DM comes in and runs a new system. We are trying for a flavour change more than rules variety, so we try to SIEGE the rules as much as we can

The first message in this thread (p.1) lists the games we have played and those in the future

No one is obliged to take a turn DMing something, but everyone can DM, if they wish.

Alright, kids! Shadowrun is up next. To give a proper lead in for preparation, the discussion to choose who will GM after Shadowrun, and what game it will be, begins............now!

After a quick read up on Jovian chronicles, it sounds like a lot of fun, put it up on the list Mr. Kurt

Also, reading up on Jovian Chronicles and DP9 re-piqued my interest in Gear Krieg, so that might be another one to consider Jay (or lend me the books and Ill see what I can do)

al though an alternate version of the second world war may be fun too

if i was going to run a short campaign it would be something like the guns of the naverone

it is however up to the players since

neither would be hard to whip up

Nifty idea. And the n azis are actually...Vampires! Tommy guns firing hollow bullets full of holy water, grenades splattering shrapnel coated in garlic.

I'll be the shell shocked naive college grad lieutenant who doesn't know if he has what it takes to lead this bunch of ex-criminal renegades.

Who wants to be Telly Savalas?

Let's get them N azis!
One thing to note about the games jarred has posted: They sound fairly "gear" heavy which can be a bit tricky when no one else has the rules (as we are seeing a bit with shadowrun)

That was one advantage of Go For Your Gun. Everyone knows the difference between a six shooter and a derringer. Everyone knows a horse is faster than a mule

So if you do run a non generic type game, be prepared to answer lots of questions
Sounds good though. Glad to have a new DM added to the mix. You won't hold the fact that I killed you 3 times in Paranoia SIEGE, and gave you a character named Pep-R-Mint against me will you?

considering i know these rules inside and out front to back and inverted

questions are not a problem

as for gear heavy i tend to run more skill oriented games

so gear is mostly limited to what you need to preform your chosen action

mostly i like my characters to be fleshed out

i've learned alot since running my first few games

so expect alot more than just combat

with choas principle expect intrigue and information gathering clandestine meetings

and of course the giant mecha battles
as for gear kreig it'd probably be a grittier game

check for dust in the intake valves and worry bout that bent sight

not to mention when you'll next eat
and the mech battles
no of course not

you'll be joe lockjaw the heavy machinegunner with a speech impediment

But seriously folks...run something you are comfortable with.

My strong preference in all of the Thursday games is for a flavour change, rather than a system change, so be careful of anything too rulesy.

That is the beauty of SIEGEing up most of the games we have run. So simple. No homework!
Other than that, run what you think will be fun.

The WWII game sounds fun. I don't think I am clear on what the other games you mentioned actually are, flavour wise. But we have a good light hearted group so it will be fun either way

oh am i running the next game?

i thought i had at least another one or two runs

considering the list of possibles

and was just pushing for a concensus

so i knew what the direction i should go for my next obcessive compulsive creation binge

as for the my little ponies prank

well you're twisted

i'll be rainbow hawk the pony with a rainbow coloured mohawk

he's alright once you get to know him just don't piss im off

he shoots rainbows or irritation out his many times pierced nose
as for jovian chronicles think anime mecha stuff in a more hard sci-fi solar system look up planetes, and then combine with the gundam or macross series to get a feel

gear krieg is a WWII pulp sci fi

like the pulps of the twenties to fifties

although maybe a little grittier

asimov, clarke, for example started with pulps

Major American science fiction magazines include Amazing Stories, Astounding Science Fiction, Galaxy Science Fiction, The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction, and Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. The most influential and longest running British science fiction magazine was New Worlds.

That's fine. No need for you to go next. However, we do have to be clear on what is next so that person can have (4 weeks from today maybe?) prep time

So, who is up for it?

I am most interested in:

"Darkest Before the Dawn" (C&C Wild West Pt. 2)__________Aramis

Classic AD&D Modules__________Someone

Call of Cthulhu SIEGE__________Mr H. Lovecraft, Esq.

Aces and Eights SIEGE________Spak Man

Warhammer SIEGE-Enemy Within__________Aramis

Being "most interested" in no way means I am not interested in the other possibilities.

For Classic D&D Modules I volunteer to run Tomb of Horrors. It should last 2, maybe 3 sessions before everyone becomes naked and dies.

Well, Dead Mule pt 2 a.k.a. "Darkest Before the Dawn" is but a twinkling in my mind's eye, so that would take some prep time to make it.

Enemy Within would be fun but as it is 5x128 page modules, it might last a tad more than 6 weeks...or 6 years . Plus I have never run or played Warhammer so no doubt the SIEGEing would take some work.

Your suggestion of classic AD&D modules sounds great. Worst comes to worst we could do a round robin where we each DM a classic module. So many greats that I have never played or run.

I have almost the complete run of classic 1st ed modules, Basic and Expert too. I have played through maybe 5% of them in my gaming life (and most of those only in the Neverwinter Nights version, like Tomb of Horrors).

I concur with Call of Cthulhu and Aces and Eights, but the latter will require some "gettin' ready" By Spak Man, and alas, no one has offered to DM us through Call of Cthulhu

Keep at it people, what is next on our glorious agenda?

I'd Be willing to run some aces & Eights if you guys are willing to put up with me struggling with the rules a bit Ive read through the book but have only run one quick one on one gunfight.

On the plus side, now that I know how the card functions work in maptools we should be OK for that, as well I've made the tokens to use for the targeting system and have the silhouettes all made up for maptools so we should be good to go.

If you guys want a quick preview of how the shooting system works watch this video

If you guys give me the OK Ill start making some pregens for you.

Hopefully, Treebore is feeling better.

Sounds like the future order is Aces and Eights followed by WWII combined with Steampunk and zombie n azis. Should be fun.

Hello all.

Some of you may know me from Tree's Monday (now Tuesday) night game. I proposed an idea to that group, but they seemed to think it would work better here. So, here you go. I'm able to start the game at any time so if people would like to give it a shot, please let me know.

==============================================

I'd use the siege engine as everyone seems to like it, but I'd rather keep the actual setting a bit of a secret.

Chargen would go something like this:

Characters are normal people, independently going about their daily lives in 20th century earth when each suffers an injury leaving them comatose. You can decide on the specifics of the injury. Alternatively a character could have been cryogenically frozen.

(1) Divide 72 points among your 6 abilities (average of 12 points each).

(2) Choose 3 primes.

(3) Designate up to 3 "professions" - simple nouns describing your occupational experience: firefighter, nun, professional bowler, etc.

(4) Divide 5 "ranking points" among your chosen professions. The higher the ranking, the more accomplished you are within the profession.

(5) Designate up to 3 "hobbies" - simple nouns describing your personal interests: softball, painting, roleplaying games, etc.

(6) Divide 5 "ranking points" among your chosen hobbies. The higher the ranking, the more accomplished you are at the hobby.

Obviously that's a bit vague, but I wanted the setting to come as a surprise, although it's probably pretty clear where I'm going.

Let me know what you think.
