Any Cleaver The Pit Updates?

Post by moriarty777 »

I know that Davis is busy with the CKG... but I was hoping for a bit of news regarding this little game.

I just got the CtP 1.0 rules with my most recent order and just read the thing cover to cover (at 12 pages, it was a quick read). I'm really looking forward to trying it out very soon.

Anything on the horizon for Cleaver the Pit in 2008?

Is this going to be a boxed game of sorts (with dice, arena map, and miniatures) or will it be sticking with a book format? Or will there be options for both?

I think the C&C minis were a test run for possible other minis. They looked great, but I'm not sure how well they sold, or what it cost to make them, but there haven't been any since... so, I'm guessing its not worth doing, but don't quote me as I could be, and would like to be, wrong.

Also, at one point in the playtesting, there were some ideas being thrown around which I, personally, would like to see. Especially an arena, and the cards. That would be a great start. Would make a killer box set.

Hmm... I had almost forgotten about those. I agree that a box set would be cool and an obvious way to sell the game. I recall the mention of cards but nothing else -- I was figuring that these were probably maneuver or situational cards in nature (and great that they seem so optional at this stage).

I had a d30 someplace but it seemed to have gone missing. I'll have to pick up another one (possibly as soon as this weekend) and I will hopefully give it a whirl. I was also thinking of how I could do a Tier 4 to allow for the advancement of the game until something more developed comes out.

TLG needs to FOCUS. While Clever is a pretty neat game, C&C HAS to be the primary focus for a while more. Then, TLG should increase the staff, and have more then just a few people doing ALL of the game deisgn.

Hehehe... I'm certainly not suggesting otherwise. I agree that C&C and LA has be remain primary focuses.

From what I've been reading and hearing, the CKG is getting the attention that it deserves. Let's face it, the best time for it to come out is BEFORE the summer when 4th Edition hits, and not after. M&T II which was mentioned for 2008 will also help bolster the line.

As for LA, it's nice that it's getting more attention, and I read something Gary posted yesterday (elsewhere) stating that the Revised Edition of the LA Player's Rulebook is laid out, and is waiting on art to be completed. To my understanding, that has also been a long time coming.

As to the rest... well, of course it can wait! However, I'll be more than happy to tinker and compare some notes with others in the meantime!

Just seen this today: http://www.trolllord.com/games/3501.html , tempted to get this somehow since I'm not going to GenCon. Have till August to see where finances lie, but if I do decide I can get this, is there anyone going to GenCon willing to pick this up for me?

Yes, I'd like to get this as well, but can't afford the time/money to get to GenCon.

Hey Trolls you planning to release this in another form, for those of us who can't afford to get to the convention?

Yes, I too am very interested in getting this as well, but I will not be attending GenCon. Hopefully there will be a way to get our hands on this!

Are there any reviews of this game out there? I won't be at GenCon, but have friends that will. I might ask them to pick up a copy for me.

Seeing that the game isn't out... no reviews to be had. However, I have seen the v1.0 of the rules and it looks like a fun little game. I also would love a copy and I think it sucks that those who can't get out to the key conventions but are big time fans and supporters might get shafted.

Ha, yeah, sorry that I wasn't clear. I was referring to reviews of the original game.

A GenCon update here... a friend of mine tried to pick this up for me, but was told by TLG that due to print issues it didn't make it to GenCon. Also, they mentioned that it might not be a limited print run either.

Wow... kind of depressioning when I read my original post in this thread seeing that we are TWO YEARS LATER.
In all seriousness though, this game was 'about' to come out this past summer so I'm curious as to when we might see this or if an updated ruleset will be released as a PDF in the meantime.
