Monster Manuals
OK, which version of monster manuals can i easily drop in C&C without conversion? AD&D, AD&D2 or OD&D?
All D&D monster books will need some conversion work, even if little work.
Both AD&D 1e and 2e should work fairly well. The main work will be of converting the AC using this method: 20 - AD&D's AC = C&C's AC. That is, in AD&D, a AC3 converts into a (20-3=) AC17 in C&C. Then, just use the number of hit-dice to determine BtH and saving-throws, as per C&C monsters (4 HD poisonous snake for example: +4 to hit, and saves vs poison have a CL of +4). Now there is also the problem of hit-dice, although this is not so important: in AD&D all monsters' hit-dice are d8. In C&C they may range from d4 to d12. So it's up to you to decide that maybe all undead and giants have d12, animals have d8, goblins have d6, etc.

Ah, thouls. I love thouls.
Yes, any 1st or 2nd Ed beast works with a very minimal amount of work. Hell, you can even eyeball it rather than use a set-in-stone conversion matrix.
I think 3rd Ed monsters would need a fair bit more work, but should be doable.

My CK uses the monster manual section from the Rules Cyclopedia. There's a ton of monsters in there. Including a Thoul.
Can you help me out a bit please? What's the full title of that book? I vaguely remember it as a D&D hardcover, wasn't it basically a combo of all the old boxed sets? (Basic, Expert, Companion, etc.) Maybe I can find it on Ebay or Bartertown.
Thanks!

It would be the Dungeons & Dragons Rules Cyclopedia. Be careful not to confuse it with the D&D Rules Compendium which was recently released covering 3.5 D&D Rules clarifications.
It's an excellent resource to have and covers material from the Basic up to the Masters set though there are the occasional bits that didn't make it in the Cyclopedia. I also seem to recall there were a couple of things added. But as a resource, it is really hard to beat.

For AD&D you may need to convert magic resistance to C&C spell resistance (SR). Simply divide the AD&D score by 5 and add 1. So, 75% magic resistance becomes SR 16
Actually, I don't see a need to convert it at all. Just use the magic resistance for that monster instead of a C&C d20 spell resistance. Same thing with situational mechanics in 1E modules. If the module says PCs have a 1 in 6 chance of being hit by a trap, there's no need to convert it to a SIEGE check. Just roll 1d6.

Moriarty777 - thank you very much. I already have the old boxed Basic, Expert, & Companion sets. But Im going to look into that D&D Rules Cyclopedia. It sounds god to have around, all the rules in one spot.

Blood Axe,
If you are interested in getting a copy of the D&D Rules Cyclopedia (RC). DriveThru RPG/RPGNow has it as a PDF. I purchased and downloaded a copy a couple of weeks ago. The scan could have been a bit better, but overall it was worth the purchase.
The weapon mastery and general skills abilities look like they will work great in C&C. The RC also has rules for mass combat and sieges, as well as covering building strongholds and establishing domions once the players reach high enough levels. Plus it has a lot of monsters too.
I also bought the D&D Creature Catalog, which contains a bunch of additional monsters.
I think I paid $20.00 for both products at DriveThru RPG.

Sorry, it was $10.95 for both.
Anyway, it was a good buy. I forgot all about looking at Paizo for D&D stuff. Thanks.
