GP Cost of training?

Post by MightyCthulhu »

OK, so the PC who whishes to train must find a 6th+ level character willing to do it. How much is the training going to cost in GP?

The C&C PHB, 3rd print, page 122, states:
Quote:
Once enough experience points are acquired to advance a level, the character must train for the number of weeks equal to the level reached before receiving the benefits of that level.

Therefore, it is assumed any costs involved are of the weekly sort, plus those accrued by whatever the trainer, if any (that page makes no reference to a trainer needed), demands or the trainee agrees to pay, such as room-and-board, weapon replacement, spell research and the like. Generally, it is advisable to have "training" actually involve some sort of side-quest, or a lead-in to adventure. Beyond this, 100-5000 GP (not per week, in my opinion, but in toto,) depending on the wealth of your world and whether you award XP for loot, per level already attained (that is, if you're going from level 8 - 9 you'd spend 800 - 40K,) is not that impossible, and is a great money-hole to drain masses of wealth from the party and keep them eager to seek more.

I don't recall there ever being a set value amount for this in C&C, so its pretty much rule-by-fiat.
