Gary Gygaxs Cosmos Builder
Gygaxian Fantasy Worlds, Vol. VIII
Written By Richard T. Balsley
Hardcover; $29.95 (est), 180 pages (est),
TLG 3008; ISBN 1-931275-38-6
Why would we strive for new realms to explore? The motifs of the mythic are so strong in those otherworldly locations that we wish to experience them through our characters. These are the worlds that are stranger than strange and uncomfortably real as science continues to push the boundaries of what we believe to be possible. Where rational thinking and science tell us we cannot experience a thing due to its hazards, our heroes laugh and invite us to enter their worlds through their bodies.
These otherworldly locales we dream of are not merely the imaginary realms where kings and peasants live in a simulacrum of our existence. No, the places of existence that most fascinate us are those where the physical reality is quite different than ours. They serve as the homes of gods and devils, elementals, and myriad creatures as of yet unknown. Simply put, these places allow our imaginations to go wild. Here, nothing we conceive of is impossible.
Cosmos Builder provides fantasy cosmologists the tools to create a unique depiction of the realms above and below (and everything in between) that can be incorporated into any setting. This book presents a great many options for the game master to append to preexisting or newly conceived settings. While this book cannot include all possible options, it hits upon the most common elements of planes of existence and offers insight for deviating from and blending these elements to suit your needs, to craft new dimensions and the strange worlds that exist on them and where diverse dimension meet.
This book is a toolbox, filled with ready-to-assemble components that will allow you to quickly flesh out your vision of a cosmology. These tools are designed to let you to share your vision with others so they can adopt your cosmology (or portions thereof) to their campaign, regardless of which game system they use. The only thing they require is knowledge of how the tools in this book work, or an explanation from you about how your friends can use your cosmology with their preferred game systems.

Welcome Xan. Glad to hear things are better.

Darlene has finished laying out Gary Gygax's Cosmos Builder and both myself, Davis and Gary have given the book the green light. The full text and cover should be turned over to me by July 13th, 2006 and it will be sent immediately to print.
Its final page count came to 128. Her price will be reset at 24.95.

I ran into a lady the other day who says, "Cool beans." I embarassed myself breaking out in laughter. She seemed OK with it when I explained that I knew someone else who said "cool beans". Then she told me how she picked it up from a soldier over in Iraq. That soldier is from Texas. She is from Kansas. So "cool beans" is spread around.
Since its 20,000 I suggest "Captain Nemo" as his title. Beyond the obvious connection, he is one who sails on his own terms and ignores those he doesn't agree with...confident in his journey and goals.

Ug and Ugalicious.
Cosmos has undergone some major surgery in the last 8 days. We've struggled with a number of looks and layout designs and have come up with one we think finally does the series justice. As the Canting Crew sets up for a second printing and the World Builder for a third and Living Fantasy set for a second we thought it a good time to give the series a make-over. Original intentions did not test well so we went back to teh drawing board.
I'll have the NEW cover up on the website by this evening..assuming Brian is up to it tonight as I'm sure he is.
Thanks for the patience. I would put it here if I could figure out how!

Quick, give a book to Serleran before he jumps out of his high-chair!

Hahaha. This series has long been needing a bit of a jazzercize work out. I always thought the cover of Canting Crew was really cool, and World Builder, but after the series covers fizzled. I restricted Peter when he wanted to change the format on Nation, but yielded on Pantheons. That opened the bar and so we brought in Jason Walton (all our old covers, Malady, Mortality, Heart of Glass, By Shadow of Night etc etc) who creates these amazing vistic, and very emotive scenes. The wizard additive was Gary's idea.

You guys really need ot offer your covers (just the art part) as posters or prints. Ask Peter how many I bought of his prints at GenCon.
