Bergholt 2 - Beneath the Black Moon - in AWD??

Troll Lord wrote:Funny you should bring this up. I've been scouring old disks looking for some key Erde files for the After Winter Dark book coming out soon. Davis wandered by and then we began looking for the follow on to Bergholt I. This was an 80 page doc that I cut out of the original Bergholt. We had planned it to be an 80 page book. In typical Davis fashion he turned over 160 pages. So we split it and turned it into two books. The second book was called Beneath the Black Moon or some such.

But at any rate that search led to a host of Monsters I developed for Erde back in 2001 but never published and then on to the Blood Runes book taht was supposed to follow the d20 book Winter Runes.

Welllll taht made davis' brain fart and he asked where all the S&S rules were he wrote (these were developed after the original publication by Davis). We are still searching for these.....

Its been an interesting night....
But we'll see what we can turn up. We would love to publish them in a freebee format or some such.

That was from a thread on the S&S rules posting.

I just spent my weekend reading Bergholt 1, and... wow! It's definately the best city I've ever seen laid out, with the most interesting characters and plots. Absolutely everything smacks of its own flavour and detail. I wish my brain could come up with material like this.

The bits I don't like are:

-When it says Book 2 is already done and off to print in 5 weeks (2002 or so?)

-NPC summary and flowchart missing from the back

ie... I don't like that there's not more of it.

I would figuratively kill for the second half of this. Or, literally, pay large sums of money!

Is the second half of Bergholt contained in After Winter's Dark? Steve's post above suggests this. I can't wait to find out what the Klinker looks like, and what's going on there.

Yeeeeaaahh! By Shadow of Night is a great, gritty, book chok full of "mood." It oozes uniqueness in the setting, and have used parts of Bergholt I (AKA By Shadows of Night) in all of my games (even non-C&C games) up until this point.

Great post, Metal.

Holy thread resurrection!
I had forgotten about that thread -- seems so long ago.

I believe the After Winter's Dark book being alluded to was what became the Airhde Folio. Back in the day when TLG was still in it's infancy, they put out a little campaign accessory called After Winter Dark:

The invariably led to the eventual production of the Erde Campaign Setting Book which greatly expanded upon the After Winter Dark accessory. The Airhde Folio is a primer for C&C drawing upon material from both of the products that came before it. If I'm not mistaken, Steve sometimes referred to the Airhde Folio to the After Winter Dark book prior to its release.

Sadly, there is no Bergholt info in the Aihrde Folio. Possibilities down the line that had been mentioned was an Inzae Folio done up in a style similar to the Airhde one and eventual and full campaign box sets for both Airhde and Inzae. I wouldn't expect these this year mind you and no formal announcement has been made for these. However, should an Inzae Folio and/or Box Set ever come to pass, I wouldn't be surprised if some of this material which never saw the light of day got revamped. Or, if the Bergholt accessory ever got a C&C treatment of it done, that some extra information found its way in with it.

Ah nuts. That means none of the second half ever made it out of Davis' clutches. But don't let that stop anyone from buying it - $5!!!!

It's basically a city campaign setting all in one 80 page book, again, the likes of which I have yet to encounter elsewhere.

And yes, I've been drooling over the prospect of an Inzae boxed set for some time.

Given the proximity of the players, I guess I'll get down to mapping the sewers and the Klinker, and work out the rest of the von Beck plot. Though I'd love to see what Davis had in mind if/when it comes out for C&C.

Has anyone else played through the I series then Bergholt? If so, I'd love to hear what you did at the end as far as wrapping up von Beck's and the Rotenheimers' machinations.

Tonight, our poor heroes will find themselves on the receiving end of the spears of a pack of angry Chazrim, and then, find their boots wet...
