Gord The Rogue - Same or Different?

Post by Kersus »

Is the new GtR book word for word the same as the original? Is the inside art the same? Have they taken out Greyhawk references?

Don't have the originals, but Greyhawk references abound. Kinda the point, in some ways....

No, and no, and no.

I think that about sums it up.

Oh really? How interesting. I hadn't known that Gary made some edits on the original text. Well, well!

Looking forward to reading the THIS Trolllord's release. I've cracked back into the Gord books a few times, but I have held off waiting for the new Hardback. 'Bout time.

There is a lot in store for Gord.

The re-prints are coming out.

A new Gord the Rogue short story is coming out this summer in an anthology written by Gary and myself titled: The Wizard's Thief

I am also finishing up a brand new Gord the Rogue novel we had started last year. This book takes place just after Saga of the Old City.

And if you are really interested and like to hunt things down we did another short story in Dragon Issue #344, (with Tiamat on the cover) It was the first new Gord story in over 15 years. It is titled: The Return of Gord

Let me know if you need more details.

Are the Trolls reprinting the entire series, and if so will there be a collection of all of the extra short stories (from Dragon or other sources)?

Also, what types of changes were made to Saga of the Old City.

Yes.

Not sure about anything from Dragon.

New art, a few changes here and there in words and phrases. Sorry, I don't have a word for word list. It wasn't much though.

For those who'd like even more Gygax fiction, I noticed the other day that Paizo's fantasy/SF/pulp novel imprint, Planet Stories, is offering Mr. Gygax's alt-history detective series, starring the pharoah's personal philosopher-wizard, Setne Inhetep.

The first one, The Anubis Murders, is already out.

You can get it from Paizo HERE

although I notice Amazon has it available for a little less

The other two books in the series -- The Samarkand Solution and Death in Delhi -- are currently available for preorder from both websites, as well as a previously-unreleased "lost" Gygax novel in the setting, Infernal Sorceress.

For those who can't get enough Gygax-fic!

I have the originals, but plan on picking up the trilogy once they're all out again anyway - I just wish they were hardcover. I can't wait for the Infernal Sorceress!
